Ceny and Hollie recently visited Douglas Daly School to return their Cows for Schools entry, along with their well-deserved prizes and ribbons!

Douglas Daly School took out the 2026 Grand Champion title in this year's Cows for Schools program with their cleverly named cow, BOB (Better on Beef), inspired by this year's theme!

Despite being a small group of students, they certainly didn't let that stop their creativity. The effort and attention to detail that went into BOB was fantastic, and it's wonderful to see what a small school can achieve.

A huge congratulations once again to the students and their teacher. You should be very proud of your efforts! 👏🐮

Our second Making Sense of Natural Capital case study is here!

At Kachana Station, natural capital management has been part of everyday decision-making for more than three decades.

Located south-west of Kununurra, the 77,500-hectare family operation has used adaptive livestock and fire management to rebuild ground cover, retain soil and water, reduce erosion and improve the function of the broader landscape.

Kachana was selected for the Making Sense of Natural Capital series because it shows what long-term, producer-led regeneration can achieve under northern conditions. It also highlights a challenge that many early adopters may face: natural capital markets often focus on funding new improvements, without necessarily recognising the value of good condition and stewardship that already exists.

By exploring ways to measure and value Kachana’s established natural capital through an outcomes-based model, this case study considers how private markets could reward past stewardship and help fund the ongoing work required to maintain healthy, productive and resilient country.
