The Northern Territory has 12 times the national average rate of homelessness, and demand for Vinnies welfare assistance continues to rise.

Across the NT, more Territorians are reaching out for support and relying on services and dedicated volunteers to get through.

AADANT would like to show our support for our member service and peak CEOs who are taking part in the Vinnies Australia CEO Sleepout and helping raise awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness in the Northern Territory.

Donations directly support people in the NT experiencing homelessness.

🎉 AOD 101 & Brief Interventions Training in Katherine

Over the past two days, AADANT was pleased to support the delivery of the AOD 101 & Brief Interventions Training in Katherine.

Delivered by Stephanie Holmes (EO, AADANT), and Dr Amanda Davies from 360Edge, the training brought together local workers to build knowledge, confidence and practical skills in having meaningful conversations about alcohol and other drug use, reducing harm and supporting people on their journey to wellbeing.

It was a great success, with strong engagement and valuable discussions across the two days.

A big thank you to the facilitators, participants and project partners who helped make this training possible.

Rita Francis (Capacity Building and Engagement Coordinator, AADANT) has been attending the AddictionZ Conference on the Gold Coast over the past two days.

This year’s theme, Addiction Treatment in a Changing World: Whole Person, Whole System – From Hope to Action, has sparked important conversations and insights across the sector.

A standout was the opening keynote by best-selling author Johann Hari, whose message that “the opposite of addiction is connection” was both engaging and inspiring. His reflections on addiction as a way of coping with pain and the power of storytelling, really resonated.

The conference has offered so many valuable takeaways to bring back into our work across the Northern Territory.
