SDFCCROCS Southern Districts Football Club is a Aussie Rules Footy club in the rural area of Darwin in the NT. Please click 'About' for more info.

Approximately 30 minute drive from Darwin and 10 minute drive from Palmerston. Approxiamately 30 minute drive from Darwin and 10 minute drive from Palmerston. The club have a growing number of teams with multiple U'10s, under 12's, under 14's and under 16's, we have various youth girls team. Girls and Boys under 18's. Women's Premier League and Div 2
Men's Premier League, Men's Div 1 and Div 2. Th

e season commences in October and finishes in March. Juniors to go on to VFL/AFL include Nathan Buckley, Bradley Copeland, Fabian Francis, Steven Koops, Aaron Shattock, Anthony Corrie, Shannon Rusca, Shawn Lewfatt, Malcolm Lynch, Richard Tambling, Jared Brennan, Troy Taylor, Steven May, Nakia Cockatoo and Zac Bailey. Others have played one or two seasons as juniors or seniors with the club and gone on to VFL/AFL including Gilbert McAdam, Adrian McAdam, Michael O'Loughlin, Allen Jakovich and Cedric Cox.

The season is just around the corner, and we need ALL CLUB MEMBERS to get stuck in and help get our home ground ready! 💪

❤️🤍🖤 WELCOME TO THE CROCS, RILEY SMITH!

Southern Districts is pleased to welcome Riley Smith to the Crocs for the 2026/27 season.

A classy left-footed midfielder, Riley arrives in Darwin with plenty of experience and success behind him, including three premierships with the Echuca Bombers and three Goulburn Valley Football League representative selections.

After making the move to Tongala this season, Riley has put together another strong year, playing an important role in the senior side and bringing plenty of composure, experience and high-end skill through the midfield.

Now he's heading north and looking forward to the opportunity to continue his footy with Southern Districts.

We’re looking forward to seeing what Riley can bring to the Crocs! 🐊

IMPORTANT UPDATE- PLEASE READ 🐊

We know there are plenty of questions across our junior football community about the implementation of the NTFL Junior Pathways Framework and what it may mean for junior football at Southern Districts.

Thank you to the many families who have contacted the Club. We understand that questions around registrations, team nominations, player pathways and how the framework will work during the 2026–27 season are important to our members.

This week, the SDFC Committee met with AFLNT to discuss:

• Player participation forecasts for the 2026–27 season
• Player pathways across junior football
• Season planning and implementation of the Junior Pathways Framework
• Areas where player numbers and demand may create challenges

Southern Districts will continue working with AFLNT as these discussions progress. Our priority is making sure our young players have the opportunity to play football, develop their skills and enjoy a positive experience at our Club.

Discussions will continue over the coming week as registration numbers become clearer and planning for the season progresses.

We appreciate the patience and support of our players, families and wider SDFC community while this work continues.

We will keep members informed and provide a further update as soon as more information becomes available.
