Losing music venues in small places hits harder. It's clear from the response Epilogue Lounge played a key role in the music scene in Mparntwe from musicians first gigs, to the amazing nights with King Marong and many others on the roof top and Thursday Jams which, alongside the Jump Inn jams stoked and supported a community. We don't just lose a venue, we lose employment for staff, musicians, tech and security and we lose another safe, inclusive and community building space in a region that needs it more than ever. More needs to be done to create the framework so live music can work and we are ready to work with the Government and stakeholders on what we can all do. Our thoughts are with Chris, Stef and the team in what we are sure was a hard call to make.
Dear Alice Springs,
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of Epilogue Lounge and the Rooftop. Between the rescission of our agreement by the property owners and the ongoing CBD works that have forced us to cease operations on the Mall, the business has unfortunately become untenable. This is a devastating outcome for all of us.
We want to sincerely thank you for your support over the past 13 years. We have poured immense hard work and passion into this business, and we are deeply grateful to our dedicated team members who contributed so much over the years. We are also forever indebted to the many sound technicians, artists, DJs, and musicians we have had the pleasure of working with.
Most importantly, we thank you, our community, for standing by us for over a decade.
We worked hard, we played hard, and now we fight hard.
We will not go gently into that good night...
With gratitude,
Epilogue Lounge
