🚀 Alice Springs Young Entrepreneurship & Small Business Expo

YouthWorxNT was proud to help plan and facilitate the Alice Springs Young Entrepreneurship & Small Business Expo, creating opportunities for young people to explore pathways beyond traditional employment.

Young people took part in workshops about turning their ideas into businesses, how to get started, and what it takes to build a business. They also got to meet local entrepreneurs, connect with support organisations, and hear from some inspiring guest speakers, including Australian of the Year Katherine Bennell-Pegg; Australia's first qualified astronaut and NT Australian of the Year Dr Felix Ho.

The expo grew from a simple idea: How can we create more opportunities for young people in Alice Springs to explore their potential, outside of the usual employment pathways?

Whether it’s starting a business, turning a passion into a career, or simply finding out what’s possible, the expo was all about giving young people the connections, inspiration and practical information to take that first step. 💡

🎓💚 Young Leaders Academy Graduation 💚🎓

What a special day celebrating 6 incredible months with our Young Leaders!

Watching each young person grow in confidence, independence and belief in themselves has been an absolute privilege. From workshops and guest speakers to new experiences, challenges and plenty of laughs, we couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come. Our Graduation was made even more special surrounded by family, friends and our wonderful guest speakers, with three of our Young Leaders bravely taking the stage for our panel and sharing their journeys. 🎤👏

A heartfelt thank you to our special guests The Administrator of the Northern Territory, Peter Styles - Lord Mayor of Darwin, Jinson Anto Charls MLA, Councillor Clarence CJ McCarthy-Grogan for Chan Ward and Councillor Patrik Ralph - City of Darwin, Waters Ward for joining us to celebrate our graduates, and for the kind words of encouragement, congratulations and support shared on the day and throughout the program.

We finished the day the best way possible with laser tag, bowling, arcade games, food and lots of laughs at Kingpin! 🎳🕹️

To our Young Leaders, congratulations. You should be so proud of yourselves. We certainly are. This is only the beginning! 💚🎓

🎣 REEL Skills at Crab Claw Island! ☀️🌴

What a fantastic day. 😁

Last week Crab Claw Island Resort gave us the perfect backdrop for our REEL Skills Initiative, with fishing from the beach, a few very keen anglers heading out on boats, plenty of time in the pool and a seriously good burger bar for lunch.

A huge thank you to Frankie for the cooking demo and for jumping in to help throughout the day. Nothing was too much trouble. 🚤

Everyone also went home with their own fishing rod and tackle box thanks to the team at Tackle World Coolalinga and we absolutely loved wearing our fishing shirts designed by YouthWorX NT participant Jacinta. Having one of our own young people create the design made them even more special.

REEL Skills is about more than catching fish. It gives young people the chance to build confidence, learn practical fishing and sustainable fishing skills, connect with experienced local anglers and experience just how good fishing in the Top End can be.

A big thank you to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for proudly sponsoring the REEL Skills Initiative and making days like this possible.

Lots of laughs, new skills, great food and a pretty spectacular day out. 🎣

WE WON! 🏆💛

YouthWorX NT has been named the 2026 NT Disability Inclusion Award winner for Excellence in Service Provision!

We are incredibly proud of this one. 💪🏼

To be recognised alongside fellow finalists Somerville Community Services, Carpentaria Disability Services and Purple Support was both humbling and a huge honour. There is some exceptional work happening across the NT disability sector.

For our small but mighty team, this award recognises something we care deeply about, creating real opportunities for young people with disability to build confidence, independence, skills and pathways into work, training and community life.

We are especially proud that young people help shape the way we work. They are participants, leaders, co-designers and, increasingly, members of our own team.

This award belongs to everyone who makes that possible: our team, Board, partners, employers, families and, above all, the young people who let us be part of their journey.

What a night. And what a team. 💛🏆
