๐ŸŒŸ Great morning connecting with families and service providers at the Henbury School Community Expo! ๐ŸŒŸ

Tanya and Zac from the YouthWorX NT team enjoyed sharing information about our programs and support services, while building new connections with families, schools and community organisations. A big thank you to Henbury School for hosting such a welcoming and valuable event. Opportunities like these help ensure young people and their families know where to turn for support and strengthen community partnerships. ๐Ÿ’™

We look forward to continuing these conversations and working together to create positive outcomes for young people across the Territory. ๐ŸŒฑ

๐ŸŒŸ Building Skills for the Future and Wellbeing ๐ŸŒŸ

Last week, our Young Leaders took part in workshops focused on both career development and personal wellbeing.

Zac and Lyle facilitated a resume creation workshop, helping participants understand what makes a strong resume and guiding them through developing their own. Amealia also led a session on career pathways, exploring education, training, and employment opportunities while encouraging young people to think about their future goals. ๐Ÿ’ผโœจ

The group also participated in a workshop on managing burnout and practising self-care. Together, they explored the signs and impacts of burnout, discussed the importance of maintaining a healthy balance, and developed practical strategies to support their mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒฟ

It was a valuable week of learning, reflection, and growth, equipping our young people with the skills and confidence to navigate both their career journeys and personal wellbeing.

Applications Now Open ~ The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in partnership with Brownโ€™s Mart presents an inspiring opportunity for First Nations young people aged 18โ€“25 from Darwin and across the Northern Territory to build skills and begin a career behind the scenes in the performing arts.

Delivered at Brownโ€™s Mart precinct in Darwin, NIDA First Nations Technical Production Pathways 2026 is a free five-day intensive program running from Monday 6 July - Friday 10 July (National NAIDOC week) and will provide hands-on training in technical and production roles for live performance, including stage management, lighting, sound, and festival operations.

First Nations young people aged 18โ€“25 from Darwin and across the Northern Territory are encouraged to apply for this opportunity, NIDA First Nations Technical Production Pathways 2026, by email to [email protected], and tell us in one hundred words or more who your mob is, where you are from, and why you would like to take part in this course.

NIDAโ€™s Director of First Nations Travis Cardona said, โ€œFirst Nations people remain underrepresented in technical and production roles within Australiaโ€™s entertainment industry, despite strong demand. This free program addresses that gap by combining world-class training with practical, real-world pathways into employment across live events, theatre and festivals.โ€

Brownโ€™s Mart Co-CEOs Liz Rogers and Yvette Walker said, โ€œBrownโ€™s Mart has always been a place for genuine connection, bold ideas and cultural excellence and its ultimate vision is to bring together people to share their stories and cultural traditions through live performance. This partnership with NIDA will allow young First Nations peoples to build vital skills, grow their professional networks, and contribute to a strengthening First Nations technical workforce in the Northern Territory.โ€

Led by NIDAโ€™s industry respected teaching staff and presented in collaboration withBrownโ€™s Mart, the program will provide a direct pathway for participants to gain in demand skills and connect with local employment opportunities.

Applications are open to First Nations young people aged 18โ€“25. Apply before Monday 22 June, 11:59 pm (AEST).

Interested applicants can apply by emailing: [email protected]

โœจ Inspiring the next generation of changemakers! โœจ

On the 21st of May, the Young Leaders Academy and CSD participants had the incredible opportunity to visit Parliament House - gaining firsthand insight into leadership, democracy, and the power of having a voice in our community. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ
From exploring the chambers to learning about how decisions are made, our students were engaged, curious, and inspired to become future leaders who will make a difference.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this experience possible and to our amazing participants for representing YouthWorX NT with pride and enthusiasm. The future is bright! ๐ŸŒŸ

The 22nd of May marked 28 years of YouthWorX NT. ๐ŸŽ‰

We were proud to celebrate this milestone with our team and Board, gathering for afternoon tea before our AGM. ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ‚

For 28 years, YouthWorX NT has walked alongside our Northern Territory community, supporting them to build skills, confidence, connection and pathways into work. ๐Ÿ’ช

We acknowledge and thank everyone who has contributed to YouthWorX NTโ€™s story, past and present. Our staff, Board members, volunteers, partners, funders, supporters, and the young people and families who have trusted us to be part of their journey. ๐Ÿ‘

Your commitment has helped shape an organisation that is grounded in community, driven by purpose and still here after 28 years.๐Ÿซถ

Hereโ€™s to the next chapter, and to continuing our work with young people across the Territory as they shape their future. ๐Ÿ’ซ

๐Ÿ’ช We're taking on the Push-Up Challenge! ๐Ÿ’ช

This year, some of the YouthWorX NT team are joining thousands of Australians in the Push-Up Challenge to raise awareness and support for mental health.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be pushing ourselves one push-up at a time while helping start important conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

Cheer us on, join the challenge, or consider supporting this fantastic cause. Together, we can help make a difference and show that no one has to face mental health challenges alone. ๐Ÿ’™

Get moving for youth mental health ๐Ÿ’š

The Push-Up Challenge is back from 3โ€“26 June, and weโ€™d love you to be part of it.

Over 24 days, youโ€™ll receive a different push-up goal each day, with a few rest days along the way.

Not a push-up person? Thatโ€™s totally okay. You can swap push-ups for other movements like squats, sit-ups, lunges, walking, or any movement that works for your body.

You can take part on your own, or bring your friends, workplace, school, gym or sports club together and create a team. The free app helps you track your progress, follow the daily targets, and keep a bit of friendly competition going with your team leaderboard.

Along the way, youโ€™ll also receive daily mental health facts and wellbeing tips to help start conversations, reduce stigma and raise awareness.

You can also choose to fundraise for headspace and help support better mental health outcomes for young people across Australia or your local headspace Centre.
