This week, two of our Program Managers represented TeamHEALTH at the AADANT Conference 2026 in Darwin.

This year's theme: On Country, In Community: The Way We Work, felt close to home. A timely reminder that at the heart of good support work is the quality of the relationships we build with the people we serve. That's true across everything we do. ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you toAssociation of Alcohol and Other Drug Agencies NT for bringing the sector together for two days of meaningful conversation and connection.

Last week, we hosted All In: A Reconciliation Gathering at our Bougainvillea Centre in Nightcliff, and what a day it was. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก

We were honoured to open with a smoking ceremony facilitated by Uncle Joe Raymond, and a Welcome to Country from Larrakia Elder Mary Williams, both made possible with the generous support of Larrakia Nation.

We were also joined by guest speaker Nicole Brown - Lyons Ward Councillor, whose powerful address reflected on the history and ongoing significance of Reconciliation Week, and honoured the resilience and strength of First Nations people. A truly memorable moment in the day.

It was wonderful to also welcome Ed Smelt for Nightcliff and a range of community stakeholders who came out to show their support.

The day was filled with weaving, didgeridoo making with Dale Austin from
Dingo Cockatoo Aboriginal Culture, painting, a yarning circle, live music, a BBQ, and a stunning spread from Soul Essence on the Bay.

Thank you to everyone who made this day special. Reconciliation isn't a single event but a continuing journey, and days like this remind us why it matters. ๐Ÿ™

Our Katherine team were out in the community last week!

Bella, Melissa, and Brendan joined the Katherine Community Day, connecting with local service providers, stakeholders, and Joanna Holden, Mayor of Katherine to talk about flood recovery, community resilience, and the ongoing support efforts across the region.

It was a reminder of what Katherine does best: showing up for each other. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿงก Today is Mabo Day, and a powerful close to National Reconciliation Week.

On this day in 1992, the Australian High Court delivered a decision that changed the course of this nation's history. After a decade-long legal battle led by Eddie Koiki Mabo, a Meriam man from the Murray Islands in the Torres Strait, the court overturned the doctrine of terra nullius. The fiction that Australia was empty land, belonging to no one, before British settlement. It never was.

The Mabo decision was a landmark moment for justice. But it was built on something far older, the deep, unbroken connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have always had to Country. Eddie Mabo didn't create that connection. He fought to make a nation finally recognise it.

Here in the Northern Territory, that connection to Country is something we see, feel, and work alongside every day. It shapes how we show up for the communities we serve at TeamHEALTH, and it reminds us why this work matters.
Rest in power, Eddie. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ–ค

The Black Cockatoos are celebrating and so are we!

As part of the Sea Breeze Project, this incredible group of First Nations women created a stunning "Tree of Life", and entered it into the Jetty ArtSpace Competition, where they took out second place in the Open Groups category.

Their prize was presented at the Community Bank Nightcliff event on 24 May, and every bit of it was earned.

The Black Cockatoos are one of our Low Intensity Mental Health Support Groups, a safe, supportive space for First Nations women to yarn, create, and connect culturally.

During Reconciliation Week, we're proud to celebrate not just their achievement, but their strength, resilience, and the community they've built together.

๐Ÿงก National Reconciliation Week is this week. This year's theme is All In.

For us at TeamHEALTH, those two words carry a lot of weight. We work on Aboriginal land. We work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families, and communities every single day. Reconciliation isn't an annual moment for us, it's woven into the fabric of our work and our relationships across the Top End.

This week we pause to reflect on how far Australia has come, and how far we still have to go. We honour the strength, resilience, and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. And we recommit to showing up, fully, genuinely, all in. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ–ค

๐Ÿงก On this day in 1967, Australians voted to change the Constitution.

59 years ago today, over 90% of Australian voters said yes to recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Census and giving the Federal Government the power to make laws for First Nations peoples. It was, and remains, the most successful referendum vote in Australian history.

It was a landmark moment. But it was also the result of decades of tireless activism, courage, and determination by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their allies. Change doesn't happen without people who refuse to stop fighting for it.

59 years on, the work of reconciliation continues. And here in the Northern Territory, on Aboriginal land, alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, that work is something we carry with us every day at TeamHEALTH.

๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ–ค Always was. Always will be.
