A great start to our Cohort Specific Training Program at Casuarina!

Day 1 saw participants in our Workforce Australia program kick off a course built around the skills that open doors to employment: communication, confidence, and self-awareness.

The first session, led by Jahdai Vigona from the One Percent Program, focused on building rapport and communicating with confidence.

It was fantastic to see everyone get involved, share their stories, and back each other, as new connections formed across the group.

At Ironbark, we believe small, consistent steps lead to real outcomes and Day 1 showed exactly that. We can't wait to see what our participants achieve through the rest of the program. 👏

Workforce Australia services in the NT are delivered by Ironbark Aboriginal Corporation.

A lovely photo of Ironbark Aboriginal Corporation Board Member Mr Halpin Hart and Ms Bernie Shields at today’s National Sorry Day event in Darwin.

Mr Hart, a proud Jawoyn man from Katherine, sits on the Ironbark Board as a representative of the Stolen Generations community and brings decades of lived experience, leadership and advocacy to the organisation. Like Ms Shields, he has been heavily involved with the Northern Territory Stolen Generations Aboriginal Corporation since its inception, including serving as Deputy Chairperson for approximately 10 years before becoming Chairperson in 2013–2014.

A strong and respected community leader, Halpin continues to advocate for Stolen Generations survivors and their families while sharing his knowledge, guidance and cultural leadership through his role with Ironbark.

Today was a powerful reminder of the importance of truth-telling, healing and reconciliation as we honour the strength, resilience and enduring spirit of Stolen Generations survivors.

From 27 May to 3 June, Ironbark Aboriginal Corporation joins communities across Australia in recognising National Reconciliation Week.

This year’s theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

At Ironbark, reconciliation is more than a conversation. It’s reflected in the work we do alongside Aboriginal communities, our commitment to creating opportunities, and the relationships we build through respect, collaboration and shared understanding.

Reconciliation is not a spectator sport. It requires all of us to listen, learn, walk together and take action toward a more just and united future. This National Reconciliation Week, we encourage everyone to be All In for reconciliation.

On National Sorry Day, we honour the strength, truth and lived experiences of Stolen Generations survivors and their families.

Sorry Day is a reminder for all Australians to acknowledge the truth of how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children were forcibly removed from their families, communities and Country, and the enduring, intergenerational impacts that continue today.

Real change demands leadership, accountability and urgency. Saying sorry matters. It acknowledges truth and signals compassion. But sorry without action is not enough.
