We are thrilled to announce that GM David Smerdon will be playing in the Australian Open Chess Championships, right here in Darwin.

David has been one of the best chess players in Australia for over two decades and has competed in many chess olympiads. This is a terrific opportunity for locals to play alongside a Grandmaster, and perhaps even get a game against him!

We would like to say a big thank you to The Essington School for supporting our event with their fantastic facilities.

Before NTCA even existed, our leaders Rajeev and Brodie taught the after school chess clubs at Essington. It's great to see that relationship still going strong today!

18 players battled it out on Sunday afternoon with 9 rounds of exciting 3+2 blitz.
