We’re excited to share that Cook Medical Australia has won the International Health Award and Queensland Exporter of the Year at the 2026 Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards.

Queensland Exporter of the Year is the highest honour presented at the awards, recognising outstanding achievement among the category winners. The International Health Award recognises outstanding international success in the fields of health, medical or wellbeing.

These awards recognise our contribution to Queensland’s export industry and reflect the expertise and dedication of our people across Cook Australia, along with the strong reputation we have built for quality, innovation and reliability in delivering medical devices to customers and patients around the world.

Today is National Self-Advocacy Day.

At Endeavour Foundation, we're proud to celebrate self-advocates who use their voices to make decisions about their lives and drive positive change for others.

For Chloe, a passionate advocate and Auslan educator, self-advocacy is "the ability to stand up for your own rights, and to make your own decisions about your own life". Her experiences have shown how important it is to speak up when something doesn't feel right, and she encourages others to do the same:

"You have a voice. Don't be afraid to use it."

Kurtis has used his lived experience to advocate for greater understanding of disability, including speaking at events and sharing his story. He says self-advocacy means "speaking up for myself, sharing my ideas and needs, and making my own choices".

After raising concerns about support that wasn't meeting his needs, he found services that were a better fit. His advice:

"Believe in yourself and that your opinions matter."

Today we're celebrating Chloe, Kurtis and self-advocates across Australia whose voices help create positive change.

For 75 years, Endeavour Foundation has supported people with intellectual disability to live more independently, build skills and stay connected to their communities.

The 'Cast & Chill' fishing crew have been busy! 🐟

After a successful day on the water, participants from our Lawnton Learning and Lifestyle Hub returned with their catch and got straight into the next challenge: learning how to clean and prepare the fish themselves.

There was plenty of excitement when the fish started biting, but the experience didn't end when the rods were packed away. Participants got hands-on with every step of the process, building practical skills, confidence and independence as they prepared their catch.

The fresh fish was then handed over to the 'Cooking Group', where participants will use their culinary skills to transform it into a delicious meal for everyone to enjoy. 🍽️

By bringing the two groups together, participants experienced the entire journey from catch to kitchen, learning new skills, contributing to a shared outcome and seeing the results of their efforts from start to finish.

Staff member Jordan put it perfectly, "What a beautiful day out fishing." 🎣

When a family member is exploring employment, understanding the different pathways available can help you support their next step with confidence.

Arron’s employment journey has evolved alongside his goals. He started in supported employment, built his skills, gained his truck and forklift licences, and later moved into a mainstream truck-driving role.

“I got my truck and forklift licences through Endeavour Foundation because that was what I liked doing, so I wanted to keep doing it", said Arron.

Every person with intellectual disability has unique strengths, interests and aspirations. Exploring different employment pathways can help families better understand which options may be the right fit for their family member.

Meet Faith and Geoffrey this International Coffee Day! ☕

At the café in our Support Centre, Faith is a barista and Geoffrey works on the till, serving customers and helping things run smoothly.

As supported employees, they're building skills, growing their confidence and working towards goals that matter to them.

We caught up with Faith and Geoffrey to hear what they enjoy about their jobs, what they’re proud of and what they’re working towards. Asked what she likes most about her job, Faith's answer was simple: "Making coffees and making people smile."

What could employment after school look like for your young person?

For Spencer, the journey started before he graduated. While at school, he regularly took part in work experience, helping him build the confidence and prepare for work after school.

Just one month after finishing school, Spencer started working at our Wacol work site. Since then, he has built new skills, including training to operate a pallet jack, while finding a team where he feels accepted and a real sense of belonging.

Every young person with intellectual disability has different interests, strengths and goals. Starting the conversation before school finishes can create more opportunities to explore what employment could look like and plan for the future.

What a way to start the week at Alexandra Hills Learning and Lifestyle Hub! 🚒

Participants welcomed their families to explore the Hub with them and enjoy the outdoor spaces, before a special visit from the Cleveland Fire Station gave everyone the chance to check out the fire truck and equipment up close.

Some of our Marketing team even swapped their keyboards for BBQ tongs to cook lunch for everyone! 🌭

Thanks to all the participants, families, staff and special guests who came along and made it such a memorable start to the week.

A ferry ride, island views and a surprise koala sighting made for a pretty great day out for brothers Graham and Alan! 🏝️

The pair recently headed over to Magnetic Island from Townsville, spending the day exploring and enjoying time together.

Horseshoe Bay was a favourite stop, with plenty of time to take in the view before heading off for lunch. And while exploring the island, they even spotted a koala relaxing in a tree. 🐨 Both brothers agreed they had a "fabulous day!"
