"It could be any one of us."

Right now, hundreds of older women over 55 are living in cars, couch surfing, or hiding from threats of violence. Not because they did something wrong. Because the system left them behind.

They're not statistics. They're sisters, mothers, daughters. Someone's whole world.

One night in your car won't fix this. But it will change how you see it. That's the point.

Register for the Live Like Her Challenge and give one night of your life to help her home.

REGISTRATIONS FOR OUR BRISBANE CHALLENGE CLOSE ON THE 31ST OF AUGUST @ 9AM - head to the link in bio to join today πŸš—

Here's a statistic that stopped us in our tracks: older women over 55 are now one of the fastest growing groups experiencing homelessness in Australia.

They're not who most people picture. They're mothers. Grandmothers. Older women who spent years raising families and supporting everyone around them.

Joel put it simply: as a husband and a dad, that's impossible to ignore.

That's why he's supporting The Forgotten Women and taking on the Live Like Her Challenge.

Join him. Help raise awareness. Help change lives.

Registrations for the Brisbane Live Like Her Challenge close in 7 days.

This is the chance to fund real housing outcomes for older women sleeping rough across this city right now.

One night in a car won't fix homelessness. But it will change how you see it, and it will move real dollars into real housing.

A real estate agent called us in tears.

They'd just had to issue an eviction notice to a woman in her 80s living in Redhill, someone she'd worked with for 17 years. The debt was under $1,000. Rental arrears, nothing more.

But instead of just processing the paperwork, that agent picked up the phone and asked if there was anything that could be done.

That one call meant we could clear the debt. And go further, adding a rental top up so it never happens again.

Real estate agents don't always get the credit they deserve. This one saw an older woman about to lose her home of almost two decades, and chose to act.

It's a reminder that protecting an older woman's home doesn't always take much. Sometimes it just takes someone noticing, and making the call.

If you're in a position to notice, make the call. To us, to your network, to anyone who might be able to help.

DFO Brisbane is proud to stand behind the Live Like Her Challenge πŸ‘πŸΌ

Older women are one of the fastest growing groups facing homelessness in Australia, and it's often hidden. No visible signs, just women quietly navigating housing insecurity while holding everything else together.

By backing this challenge, DFO Brisbane is helping fund real outcomes: housing, safety and stability for older women in our community.

Awareness matters, but action changes lives. That's what this partnership is about.

One night. Two realities.

You'll mingle. You'll laugh. You'll hear stories that stick with you long after the night ends.

Then around 1am, it hits differently. You're sitting in your car, trying to get comfortable, and it starts to sink in just how hard it is to spend even one night this way.

That's the point of The Live Like Her Challenge. Not to make it comfortable. To make it real.

Because for older women sleeping in cars every night, there's no morning where it ends. No warm bed waiting. Just another night, and another one after that.

You'll leave exhausted. They don't get to leave at all.

This is why we do it. This is why it matters.

Ready to feel it for yourself and help change the outcome for older women doing this for real?

Look at what's already building. And the challenge hasn't even started yet.

Brisbane:
πŸš— 223 cars
πŸ‘€ 282 individuals
🀝 52 teams
πŸ’› $133,092 raised

Gold Coast:
πŸš— 82 cars
πŸ‘€ 141 individuals
🀝 24 teams
πŸ’› $29,627 raised

This is what happens when a community decides that older women experiencing homelessness deserve to be seen. Every registration is someone choosing to show up, and that matters more than you know.

There's still time to be part of this. Link in bio to register πŸš—

You can read about it. You can know all the theory.

But until you spend a night sleeping in your car, you can't fully understand what it means to call it home.

If one night feels that uncomfortable, we have to ask ourselves: how do older women live this way, week after week, with nowhere else to go?

That question is exactly why we do this.

Register now for Live Like Her Challenge and turn that understanding into something real. Because every older woman deserves a place to call home.

30 days until the Gold Coast Live Like Her Challenge πŸš—

That's 30 days to decide you're going to be part of something that actually changes lives.

Right now, older women across Australia are sleeping in cars, couch surfing, or going without because they have nowhere safe to go. The challenge exists to change that, and every person who registers makes that change more possible.

You don't need to be a runner. You don't need a team. You just need to show up.

Spots are still open. Register today and let's do this together - link in bio πŸ‘πŸΌ

72 years old.

That's the average age of the older women The Forgotten Women supports. Some are 92.

They're called the hidden homeless because they don't look like what we expect homelessness to look like. They could be couch surfing, living in their car, or sitting right next to you at work, and you'd never know. Because they're too proud to ask for help. Because after a lifetime of holding everyone else up, they don't want to be a burden.

But here's the thing, they've spent decades supporting the rest of us. Now it's our turn.

You don't have to fix everything. You just have to be part of the solution.
