Why I Walk to Defeat MND 💙

For MNDSA Chair Andrew Danson, the Walk to Defeat MND is deeply personal. Having lost his father to MND, Andrew understands the devastating impact this disease has on individuals, families and communities.

This Saturday 12 September, Andrew will walk in honour of his Dad, in support of everyone affected by MND and to help raise awareness of the challenges faced by those living with the disease today.

Watch Andrew's message to hear why every step matters and why he's proud to Walk to Defeat MND.

Thank you to Rory McClaren and ABC Radio Adelaide 891 for the opportunity to discuss why Motor Neurone Disease must be made a nationally notifiable disease. As Dr Samantha Mead, CEO, highlighted, collecting accurate data is essential for informing research, improving care, advocating for resources, and ensuring no one living with MND is overlooked. 💙

We’re so excited to welcome Foodland as a Silver Sponsor of the Walk to Defeat MND on Saturday 12 September 💙

We’re incredibly grateful for Foodland’s support in helping bring our community together to raise vital funds for South Australians living with motor neurone disease, and for the families and carers who walk alongside them.
With Foodland’s support, every step taken at the Walk helps MNDSA continue providing essential support, services, equipment and care to people who need it most.
A big thank you to the Foodland team for getting behind the MND community and for helping fuel our Walkers on the day by providing fresh fruit. We’re proud to have you walking with us.

Did you know?

2 people die every day in Australia from Motor Neurone Disease; while a further 2 are diagnosed

The life expectancy once a person is diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease is 27 months

‘Until there is a cure, there is care’

Our teams taking part in The Big Ride 26 are helping to raise awareness and funds to support those living with Motor Neurone Disease.

The money raised will help fund support for the families assisting a member with MND

We are partnering with MND SA as our chosen Charity for the Big Ride, however our teams are coming from not only SA but Vic, NSW & Qld

Want to support? Follow the link below to our page and you can make a donation today OR drop by and see us as we travel over the 2000+ kms from Albury NSW to Goolwa SA

Also thank you to MND NSW and our teams from the region who are supporting their state directly. (Find their link in the comments below ⬇️)

While The Big Ride is being held for a great cause; we are also promoting it as an amazing experience with a focus on ‘Enjoying Life’

Yesterday we were honoured to be joined by MNDSA client Di Cahalan and the Minister for Health and Wellbeing, the Hon. Blair Boyer MP, to recognise the South Australian Government's outstanding financial commitment to supporting people aged 65 years and over who are living with Motor Neurone Disease.

We are particularly grateful to the Hon. Blair Boyer MP for his outstanding support and commitment to people living with Motor Neurone Disease. This significant investment demonstrates the South Australian Government's recognition of the unique needs of people aged 65 years and over living with MND and will make a meaningful difference to the lives of many South Australians and their families.

Together, we are making a real difference for older South Australians living with MND 💙
