This is a big win for the MND community. đź’™

Today, the Australian Government announced that people living with MND aged 65 and over will automatically be classified as "urgent" in the aged care system.

This means eligible people with MND should receive aged care support within 30 days instead of waiting months for help.

The Government has also committed to protecting the NDIS MND Priority Pathway, which gives people living with MND faster access to assessments, funding and reassessments when needs change.

For people living with MND, time matters. Support needs can change quickly, and delays can have a profound impact on quality of life.

Importantly, the aged care changes will also apply to people with MND who are already waiting for Support at Home funding.

This announcement follows years of advocacy by people living with MND, carers, State MND Associations, clinicians, researchers and supporters across Australia.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their stories, spoken up and helped make change possible.

There is still more work to do, but today is an important step forward.

This winter we stand with our community in support of South Australians living with MND. MND takes so much from a person. It steals movement, independence, and even a person's voice. But with the right support, people living with MND can continue to be seen, heard, and never feel alone.

MNDSA’s Winter appeal is your opportunity to make a difference. Here at MNDSA, we see every day how vital this support is for people in our community - from compassionate care, essential equipment and trusted education, to meaningful connections within our community.

While there is still no cure for MND, there is care - and your support can make a real impact right now đź’™

MNDSA were thrilled to visit Nonna’s Cucina yesterday, connecting with MND Ambassador Rosa Matto and the incredible team of staff and volunteers, including CEO Marco Staltari, General Manager Dario Fabretto, and Executive Chef Stefan Dimasi.

We’re excited to continue working together to showcase their wonderful dysphagia-friendly meals and meal service, supporting our community in such a meaningful way 💙

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming MND South Australia and a group of speech pathologists from HenderCare to Nonna’s Cucina. While they had seperate bookings, we were delighted to connect these two organisations and share discussions around our common goal of vulnerable supporting South Australian’s living with MND and swallowing difficulties.
Through our home meal delivery service and dysphagia friendly menu in our cafe, we are proud to help make nutritious, accessible meals available to those who need them most.
A big thank you to both organisations for the important work you do in our community đź’™
