Each year, one of our visitors at Hutt St Centre transform a pair of boots into a unique artwork in celebration of Walk a Mile in My Boots. 🥾

This year, Eddie applied his signature galaxy-inspired style of paint pouring to the boots. 🎨

“I felt privileged being asked to paint the boots, I really did. It’s very humbling that people really like my art and I feel good inside about it. It gives me a boost.”

“I've always been a stargazer. I used to go camping heaps in the bush. And when you go in the bush, there's a million stars and I just lay there every night and look at the stars. That’s what led to that sort of style.”

The top 3 individual and team fundraisers for Walk a Mile in My Boots will each receive a framed print of a photo of the boots as a thank you for going the extra mile to support people facing homelessness. 🙌

Introducing Sara. 👋 She's a six-time Walk a Miler and enjoys stepping up alongside her husband and their dog, Leo. 🐶

Sara was struck by seeing lots of people sleeping on the streets, and wanted to contribute to helping people out of critical situations.

Spotting Walk a Mile in My Boots online gave her the perfect opportunity to get involved. 🥾

"I know the funds raised through Walk a Mile help provide food, clothing, safety and security to people doing it tough at Hutt St Centre."

"It's exhilarating to see the the large number of walkers who participate. I've since joined Hutt St Centre as a regular volunteer so I can keep on giving back."

As an experienced Walk a Miler, Sara has tips for people participating for the first time:

"Get the beanie and wear it on your walks. And remember that for just the price of a couple of coffees you can donate to help people in need."

And, her message to people doing it tough right now:

"Hang in there and know you have the best of support towards your future home, safety and security, through Hutt St Centre."
