Youth Options – Young Lives Transformed

For more than 30 years, Employment Options has empowered marginalised young people in South Australia to transform their lives and lead a life of purpose. Over the last few years, clients, stakeholders, partners, and community have consistently told us that our name ‘Employment Options’ does not convey the breadth of the services we provide and the outcomes

and impacts we achieve for clients and community. We consulted widely with both internal and external stakeholders to assist us in choosing a name that makes sense – Youth Options. We have also chosen a tag line that reflects the impact we achieve – Young Lives Transformed. You will still see our hashtags in social media: and , including and . Youth Options will continue to help young people aged 14 to 30 to build their capacity to set and achieve their goals for a thriving future. We do this by nurturing trusted partnerships to help each person:

- overcome their barriers
- realise their own potential
- safely shift self-limiting beliefs and behaviours, and
- access the tools and support they need to explore and shape the future they imagine. We will continue to work with young people before they begin applying for jobs to engage them in their future. Our Vision, Mission and Values remain unchanged, in fact we are even more resolute to support Young South Australians achieve:

Satisfaction with life,
Living Independently in a Connected World, and
Benefit from Sustained Employment
Over the next couple of months, you will notice subtle changes in our branding, messaging and marketing as we update our website, social media and marketing collateral to our new name of Youth Options. With YOUR support, we can continue to make sure every young person in South Australia has a real pathway to an inspired and purposeful life.

“Together, we help people grow, feel good about themselves and hopeful for the future.”
– Michelle Braham, CEO, Youth Options

FIRE UP YOUR FLAVORS! 🍔🌟

Last week, Youth Space was sizzling with creativity as our Cooking Program participants rolled up their sleeves and hit the kitchen and BBQ to craft their own gourmet homemade burgers!

A shoutout to burger maestros Seth and Cilla (smiling in the pic) who concocted custom meat patties with a whirlwind of ingredients and flavors, transforming them into mouth-watering masterpieces on the BBQ.

It was an epic afternoon bursting with delicious bites, boundless creativity, and unbreakable teamwork! Everyone got a taste of independence by honing their living skills while savoring the journey together. Major applause to all the culinary champs who made it happen!

🎉 Adelaide Careers and Employment Expo 2026 — What a Day to Remember! 🙌

On May 7th, Youth Options hit the Adelaide Showground with over 20 enthusiastic participants from our NDIS and Tailored Learning programs. Brave and curious, they plunged headfirst into an electric atmosphere buzzing with over 200 organisations, employers, training providers, and industry titans. 🚀

From diving into bold conversations to exploring pathways, they seized every opportunity with both hands, gathering insights and resources to shape their futures. 🌟

Highlight Alert! 🚨 Bryan George stole the show at the Australian Defence Force exhibit, handling military equipment and igniting a spark for a potential career in defense. That’s exploration, embodied! 💪

And it was all thumbs up for Tareka Young, who found her future glimmering with possibilities at the French Beauty Academy. 🤩

Our attendees mingled with industry pros, RTOs, and VET providers, leaving with a pocketful of pamphlets, spirited notes, and a head full of inspiration. 🎒✨

Tailored Learning student Seth Baker summed up the experience perfectly, highlighting the trove of opportunities at the Adelaide University stall: “Exploring pathways opens doors you never knew existed.” 💡

Our young stars showed incredible initiative, courage, and curiosity, stretching the limits of the possible with every step. 🌠

We salute you all! This day was nothing short of transformative. Big, bold futures begin with curious minds asking daring questions. And this fantastic crew left no stone unturned. 👏

Looking ahead to a bigger and bolder 2027 Expo. Stay tuned! 🚀

🎙️ Finding Their Voice – A Podcasting Journey 🎧

This week at Youth Options, something powerful happened — not just recordings, not just editing… but confidence.

The session kicked off with participants learning about copyright and how to find the right sounds to shape their stories. What started as a simple task quickly became a creative exploration, as each person searched for the perfect intro or outro — the sound that would represent them.

From there, things got real.

Microphones were switched on. Conversations were recorded. For many, it was the first time hearing their own voice played back — a moment that can feel uncomfortable, but also incredibly empowering.

With guidance, participants stepped into the role of both creator and editor — importing their recordings into Audacity, cutting, adjusting, and shaping their message into something polished and personal.
But the real highlight?

Watching participants take control of the equipment. Setting up microphones, learning the Tascam Mixcast 4, and stepping into unfamiliar territory with growing confidence. Each attempt built not just technical skill, but self-belief.

By the end of the session, every participant had:
✅ Chosen their own podcast sound
✅ Recorded their voice
✅ Edited and exported their work
✅ Taken a step closer to sharing their story

Some are still finding their rhythm, others are already stepping ahead — but that’s the beauty of the journey. Everyone is moving forward in their own way.

Next week, the focus shifts to shaping their podcasts — building structure, planning conversations, and possibly even preparing for guest interviews.

Because this isn’t just about podcasting.

It’s about being heard. 💬

Thanks to Rotary Club of Salisbury for the hire of the equipment.
