BaptistCare was honoured to gather with around 150 people at the Adelaide Pavilion for the Wright Place High Tea, shining a light on the collective effort to support women experiencing homelessness.

Beautifully MC'd by Ali Clarke, the morning opened with a moving Welcome to Country from Deb Buckskin and her daughter, followed by an encouraging address from Katrine Hildyard MP

The most powerful voices belonged to former Wright Place residents Rhubee and Andrea, who spoke with honesty and courage about what truly helps women move forward – not just a roof, but connection, community and a renewed sense of purpose.

Thank you to all who attended and contributed. Together, we're helping build a future where every woman feels secure, valued and cared for.

🖤💛❤️ As National Reconciliation Week comes to a close, we reflect on a truly special day shared with our community at the WestCare Centre.

Last week we came together at WestCare to celebrate connection, culture and community as part of this year’s theme, All In – a reminder that reconciliation is something we all commit to every day, all year round.

With more than 220 people through the doors, the day was full of great food and conversation. Guests enjoyed a free BBQ, barista coffee, a juice stall, arts and crafts, and a beautiful acoustic performance by the talented Les Sumner.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners and volunteers who helped bring the event to life including Studio Nine Architects, who once again took to the grill to serve up lunch, and the Islamic Society of South Australia, who generously offered free haircuts and relaxing hand massages.

It’s the people who make moments like this possible – thank you for joining us and making it one to remember.

⏰ Six days to go…

Bidding on our 3 handcrafted cubby houses is entering the final stretch. Every bid and donation is helping support women in crisis through BaptistCare’s Wright Place.

Built by Men’s Shed volunteers over six months, these beautiful cubbies are the result of months of community effort and are now helping women move from crisis to safety, stability and independence💛

If you’ve been thinking about placing a bid, now’s the time.
And if a cubby isn’t for you, you can still make a difference with a direct donation.

This National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June), we join the call to be All In for reconciliation – every single day.

The 2026 theme, All In, encourages all Australians to step off the sidelines and stop being spectators in reconciliation, instead taking meaningful, wholehearted action every day.

Reconciliation lives in the everyday choices we make, the conversations we have, and the relationships we build.

At BaptistCare, we are committed to listening, learning and strengthening relationships through reconciliation. We strive to foster communities that honour and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, histories, cultures and futures.

There's something truly special about watching kids interact with farm animals. And for some, for the very first time. 🐔🐄🐷🐴

At BaptistCare's Wirraway Homestead, our animal programs are at the heart of what we do. From collecting eggs and feeding chickens, to gentle moments with our miniature pigs, getting up close with our cows, and building confidence through horse riding - every interaction is designed to connect young people with the land in a way that's hard to find anywhere else.

Whether you're a school, youth group, or camp organiser looking for an experience that goes beyond the classroom, Wirraway Homestead offers a genuinely unique farm environment where kids can slow down, explore, and thrive. 🌻

Retirement isn’t about stopping.

It’s about having the freedom to live the way you want, with a community around you.

That’s what we see every day in BaptistCare communities.

This National Volunteer Week, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to every volunteer who generously gives their time to the communities we serve. Your care and presence help people feel supported and connected across Australia.

With the United Nations declaring 2026 the International Volunteer Year, it feels especially meaningful to celebrate the many individuals who choose to show up with care and compassion and make a difference in people's lives every day.

Throughout the week, we’ll share stories from volunteers across our national organisation. We can’t wait for you to meet them!

And if you enjoy connecting with people, being part of a team and making a meaningful difference, volunteering with BaptistCare could be a great fit for you.

There’s no one way to volunteer. There’s only the way that suits you, your life and the moments you can give. Every contribution matters.
