We’re reaching out for your help to restock so we can keep supporting those in our community doing it tough. Every item makes a difference – and every share helps too.

Items needed:
• 1L long-life milk
• Small cereal packets (cornflakes, rice bubbles, etc.)
• Pasta & pasta sauce
• Sweet or savoury biscuits & muesli bars
• Tubs of fruit
• Canned spaghetti, tuna, peeled tomatoes, beans, veggies, soup
• Cup noodles
• Instant coffee tins
• Sugar

Please drop off at our Inner City reception, 11–19 Millers Court, Adelaide (off Wright St). Monday to Friday, 9am – 4.30pm

Anti-Poverty Week (11-17 October) reminds us that every person deserves a secure home, good meals and a sense of belonging.

More than 3.7 million people in Australia live below the poverty line, including one in six children.

Every day, BaptistCare walks alongside people experiencing hardship. Through food programs, free and low-cost groceries, housing and homelessness support services, counselling and other practical help, we work with people to find their own way forward and build a more secure future.

Let’s keep the conversation going. Together, we can build a community where poverty is better understood and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

This National Carers Week (11-17 October), we recognise the more than 3 million Australians who provide unpaid, essential care to a family member or friend.

The 2026 theme, ‘Care for a carer: making carers visible,’ reminds us how important it is to acknowledge carers’ contributions and ensure they feel seen, valued and appreciated.

Simple ways to support carers include:
✅check in regularly and listen;
✅offer practical help;
✅encourage rest;
✅acknowledge their role; and
✅encourage self-care.

Carers play an essential role in our communities, and BaptistCare continues to advocate for the recognition, support and flexibility they need to care for the people who matter most to them.

Today is World Mental Health Day, a global reminder that mental health matters for every person, every family and every community.

It’s an opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma and encourage open, honest conversations about wellbeing.

At BaptistCare, our commitment is to recognise the whole person - including their mental health and wellbeing - and to continue creating communities where people feel seen, supported and connected.

We support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities through mental health services, including counselling for people of all ages. In Tasmania, we also offer a comprehensive range of evidence-based mental health services through our Mindset Tasmania initiative.

Let’s keep checking in, showing kindness and making support part of our everyday routine. Together, we can help build a world where mental health is valued and supported for all.

Today we recognise the United Nations International Day of Older Persons, a day to honour the rights, voices and well-being of older people in our community.

This year’s theme, “The age of longevity: rethinking systems for longer lives,” encourages us to reconsider how we support people as they live longer. It’s a chance to explore how communities, services and support systems can help older people continue to thrive, living with connection, purpose and choice.

Ageing should never mean being overlooked. BaptistCare is proud to stand alongside older people every day as we advocate for dignity, inclusion and access to quality care.

It was a pleasure to bring our residential managers together in Melbourne recently for the 2026 BaptistCare Residential Managers Forum.

The forum provided a valuable opportunity for our residential aged care home leaders to connect in person, share insights and strengthen relationships with colleagues from across the nation. These moments of learning and collaboration are incredibly important as we continue to support each other and work together to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

Over the course of the forum, attendees explored key organisational projects, exchanged practical ideas and reflected on the opportunities ahead for residential aged care. It was also a chance to celebrate the knowledge, leadership and shared purpose that our residential managers bring to their homes every day.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed so thoughtfully to the conversations. We look forward to continuing this momentum as we work together to provide communities where everyone can live to their full potential.

This Dementia Action Week (21-27 September), we want to raise awareness about a condition that impacts many lives. Dementia affects 446,500 Australians, with around 1.7 million people involved in their care.

Dementia Action Week is an annual initiative led by Dementia Australia to encourage conversations about dementia, improve understanding, and create a more supportive community for people living with dementia and their carers.

At BaptistCare, we support people living with dementia to live well, stay connected and continue doing the things that bring them joy, meaning and purpose. Across our home care and residential care services, we focus on nurturing wellbeing, independence, and social, cultural, and spiritual connections.
