Our female colleagues at ZAMREN came to work wearing head wraps in support of the Dukutober Challenge.

Beyond this action is an important message: standing with those battling breast cancer, remembering those we have lost and encouraging conversations about breast cancer awareness and early detection.

As we mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are reminded that showing support can begin with something as simple as wearing a duku and sharing a message that matters. Let's do this Zambian Cancer Society 🫡

How do we move beyond communicating what we do to showing the difference our services make?
This was one of the key lessons from the UbuntuNet Alliance Regional Business Development and Communications Workshop, held in Gaborone, Botswana, from 21st to 25th September 2026.
ZAMREN was represented by Communications Officer, Mr. Andrew Mbazima and Assistant Marketing and Sales Officer, Ms. Muunga Lubinda, who joined participants from 12 other African National Research and Education Networks (NRENs).
The training focused on strategic communication, impact storytelling, stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
For ZAMREN, the next step is putting these lessons into practice: telling more meaningful stories about how our services support teaching, learning and research, strengthening engagement with our members and communicating the value of our services more effectively.
The workshop was organised by UbuntuNet Alliance under the EU co-funded AfricaConnect4 project and hosted by BotsREN.

Good work deserves to be recognised. Yesterday, ZAMREN sponsored two awards at the 54th Graduation Ceremony of the Natural Resources Development College (NRDC), one of our member institutions.
The awards recognised the Best Graduating Students in Agricultural Business Management and Agricultural Education and Extension.

Our Systems Manager, Ms. Ndabase Jere, presented the awards on behalf of ZAMREN.
Congratulations to the recipients and the entire graduating class!
