FROM PARTICIPANTS TO CHANGE MAKERS
Young girls and women in Chipata refused to be spectators in democracy. Through a Capacity Building Training on Civic Engagement and Peaceful Elections conducted by Fight Inequality Alliance Zambia and Girls Gone Political with support from Global Platform Zambia through the Strategic Partnership Agreement II Project.
Aspiring leaders, activists, and political actors came together to strengthen their leadership and commitment to peaceful democratic participation.
Among the participants were five women candidates preparing to contest the August 2026 elections, two aspiring Members of Parliament and three aspiring Councillors.
Their presence is a powerful reminder that women are not waiting for a seat at the table. They are stepping forward to lead.
For too long, women have faced barriers designed to keep them out of politics. Yet they continue to organize, mobilize, and challenge systems that exclude them.
Our call is simple: support women leaders, reject political violence, and create political spaces where every woman and girl can participate freely and safely.
When women lead, communities thrive. When women participate, democracy grows stronger. The time for women’s leadership is now.
