Understanding the Crime Statistics – Why Our Work Matters

The Rise Up Movement The latest crime figures remind us that Gender-Based Violence, sexual offences, assault, kidnapping and human trafficking are not just numbers on a page. Behind every number is a person, a family and a community affected.

These statistics show us why awareness and education are so important. When people understand the warning signs, know their rights and know where to get help, they are better able to protect themselves and others.

The Rise Up Movement NPO continues to make a difference through its awareness campaigns and post-victim support within the Umhlali Precinct and iLembe District.

Our work focuses on Gender-Based Violence, Human Trafficking and Child Protection, while supporting victims and survivors with information, guidance, referrals and practical assistance.

We must remember: reporting a crime is only the beginning. Supporting the victim afterwards is equally important. Victims and survivors need to feel heard, respected, protected and supported as they work towards rebuilding their lives.

The statistics are a call to all of us parents, schools, communities, businesses, law enforcement and organisations to work together.

Education creates awareness. Awareness can prevent harm. Support restores dignity. And together, we can help build a safer community.

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS & DONORS

The Rise Up Movement NPO, in partnership with the Dolphin Coast Residents & Ratepayers Association , extends our heartfelt appreciation to all sponsors and donors for their generous contributions towards our Victim Care Packs.

These essential care packs will be distributed through our Friendly Victims Centres, hosted at police stations within the iLembe District and surrounding communities.

They provide basic necessities to assist victims and survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse, helping restore a sense of dignity, care and support during an extremely difficult time.

A special thank you to Umhlali Workstation, Jo-Anne Cogan CJ Cogan Attorneys, BCN Medical, and our anonymous donors.

Your generosity, compassion and commitment to supporting vulnerable members of our community are deeply appreciated.

Every contribution makes a difference. Every act of kindness restores dignity.

*Don’t give in to threats or demands
* Block and report the offender

The Rise Up Movement, This Women's Day, let's celebrate more than a day—we must support the journey that follows.

The scars of Gender-Based Violence do not disappear when the abuse ends. Healing takes courage, compassion, and a community that stands beside survivors every step of the way.

At The Rise Up Movement NPO, we are committed to empowering survivors through awareness, support, advocacy, and hope. Every survivor deserves to be heard, believed, and reminded that their story is not defined by what happened to them—but by the strength with which they rise.

You are not alone. Your healing matters. Your future matters.

The Rise Up Movement Women's Month kicked, in partnership with Move Africa, through a meaningful community outreach initiative focused on menstrual health and dignity.

The programme included the distribution of menstrual care packs and an informative session on the importance of safe, healthy, and hygienic menstrual care, presented by Allarecee Gwamanda

The Rise Up Movement team also facilitated empowering discussions on personal wellness, sexual exploitation, teen pregnancy, and sextortion, equipping participants with knowledge to make informed decisions and seek support when needed.

This Women's Month, we are committed to doing more than celebrating women—we are empowering individuals and communities to stand together, support one another, and create safer, healthier, and more resilient communities for all.

The Rise Up Movement Nelson Mandela Day 2026 | 67 Minutes for Justice & Protection

This Nelson Mandela Day, dedicate 67 minutes to learning your rights and empowering others.

Understanding Interim Protection Orders and Final Protection Orders can save lives and help protect victims of Gender-Based Violence.

An Interim Protection Order provides urgent protection when immediate safety is at risk, while a Final Protection Order offers long-term legal protection and peace of mind. Knowledge is power—know the steps, know your rights, and help break the cycle of abuse.
