🎸 The woman who is bringing the Sunset Strip to Woodstock!
Every great production starts with a vision and the vision behind Theatre 121's Rock of Ages belongs to this woman — Director Karen Shuman. 🎬
Karen's love affair with 80s rock started where so many do-unexpectedly and completely. Pat Benatar. Quarterflash. Lyrics that grabbed her growing angsty heart and never let go. She grew up in the 80s's: big hair, bad-ass riffs, and a kind of larger than life energy that seeped into everyday life somewhere between the Aqua Net and the fingerless gloves. 😂🎸
Karen's most vivid memories of that era did not come from the front row of some legendary arena show. They came from friends' basements and roller-skating and hot summer nights!
She lived it. She breathed it. She carried it with her for decades. And now she has brought it back!
"Rock of Ages is an homage to the 80s rock world. A moment in time where the buzz of excitement, the roar when a band walks in, the sticky floors, and the stale scent of beer and cigarette smoke clinging to walls and leather jackets says that for now, we are in it."

Say hello to Addyson Oates: Ensemble member in Theatre 121's Rock of Ages!
Addyson loves nothing more than taking a character and making it completely her own, finding the details, the quirks, and the moments that nobody else would have thought to bring to life! As an ensemble member in Rock of Ages she gets to do exactly that and the result is the kind of performance you catch out of the corner of your eye and cannot stop watching. 👀
She is also PUMPED for the choreography and after everything we have seen in rehearsal, that excitement is very well placed. 🔥
But it is Addyson's favorite message from the show that we keep coming back to.
Do not take the people you love for granted.
Simple and true, delivered in the middle of the loudest, most electric show we have ever put on the Woodstock Opera House stage.

🎸 She came with a bag, a dream, and a voice that deserved to be heard. She came because she believed that if you wanted something enough and worked hard enough and showed up every single day, the Sunset Strip would eventually give it to you.

She did not come for Stacee Jaxx. He does not ask for things. Things come to him. That is simply the gravity of being Stacee Jaxx . This is the moment Rock of Ages turns on and Morgan Tolentino-Siazon and Tyler Kerr are bringing it to life with a chemistry so real and so charged that the audience is going to feel it in their bones. Every great show has a story and every great story needs someone to tell it. For Theatre 121's Rock of Ages that someone is Emily Kunash, our rockin' Content Creator. 📸✨
While the cast is bringing the Sunset Strip to life on stage Emily is capturing every moment of the journey getting there. The rehearsals. The laughter. The hard work. The magic that happens long before the curtain ever rises. She is the reason your feed has been looking this good and the reason you feel like you already know this cast before you have even bought your ticket. 😂

For anyone joining us to walk in the Pride parade on Sunday, please arrive between 10:30-10:45 (spot 12, lined up on Forrest Ave)

Feel free to get dressed up in your Pride or T121 gear and bring a bag to carry candy that we'll be passing out!
