Founded in 1981, Turning Point is McHenry County's only comprehensive domestic violence shelter and service agency, offering victims of domestic violence individual and group counseling, emergency shelter and 24 hour response among many other programs and services.

Our amazing community members in the Prairie Woods Community in Island Lake is hosting a Community Garage Sale from June 5th-7th from 8:00-5:00. 🧸

There will be awesome deals on household goods, antiques, collectibles, toys, furniture, and more! All proceeds raised from this garage sale will be donated to Turning Point to support our survivors and local families in need. 💜

✅Clothing, books, toys, games, bedding, linens, and home decor are accepted.
❌Mattresses and large furniture are not accepted.
Any donations must be dropped off by June 3rd to the location listed on the flier. ☺️

There are volunteer opportunities as well! To learn more, contact Renee Shopp at the number listed on the flier. We cannot express our gratitude at the generosity and kind hearts within our community. Thank you! 💜

Earlier this month, our Program Services Director, Julie Fanning, presented at the Naomi Ruth Coen Institute Conference "Alone Together: Confronting Loneliness Across the Lifespan". She talked about Hidden Grief of Professional Helpers: Isolation, Identity, & Connection. 💜 We are so fortunate to have such amazing staff who educate the community about such important topics.

⭐ Each month, we will be highlighting a different department here at Turning Point with a description of the department and a fun fact about the department's team. We love getting an opportunity to shoutout the amazing work each department does and show how important each team is for our organization to function and continue our important work addressing domestic violence here in McHenry County.

Our May Department Highlight is our phenomenal Grant Department. The spring season is very busy for this department because they are applying to many large, federal grants. This team is so incredibly hardworking, passionate, driven, and we are so extremely grateful for each and every one of them! Thank you for all that you do! 💜
