Rig Rendezvous

Rig Rendezvous Adopt a Husky Inc presents the Bill Leonard Memorial Rig Rendezvous on Saturday, November 12th at 9AM in Woodstock, IL

There will be Men's and Women's Canicross and 1 dog Bikejor running a 1.5 mile course and 2 dog Bikejor, 2 dog Scooter and 4 dog rig running a 2.5 mile course. There will be an obstacle course race this year. The trails are wide and grassy weaving through woods and farm fields. Gentle hills with no major climb or downhill.

The Rig Rondy race committee is confirming that we are not going to have a race in 2025. We know this is disappointing but logistics are such that it just cannot be done this year. We are hopeful to do the race in 2026.
Important to note that the Dirty Dog RGO has announced a second dryland race in October at their phenomenal race site. Please consider supporting this new race, and if you have any questions about your particular capabilities and the DDDD course, reach out.
And lastly, remember the absolute huge amount of work it takes a relatively small group of folks to put on a race, whether dryland or sled, and none of them are paid a dime. They take time out of their own training, their family and dogs, their sleep and their work so that you can all enjoy a safe and professional course. Please consider giving back to those groups that keep our sport alive. They need your support, your donations and your time.
We hope to see many of you on the trails this season. Stay safe!

Disappointing news from the Rondy Race Committee. We do not have enough volunteers to run the Rig Rondy this year. The current volunteers are stretched too thin and cannot cover everything to have a safe, organized and well planned race so we are going to have to cancel it this year. Hopefully we can come back next year.

There are lots of dryland races in the Midwest this year. If you are interested, reach out to the clubs and VOLUNTEER in addition to participating. Everyone needs help to keep our sport growing.

We are as sad as you are about skipping this year. Hope to see many of you out on the trail during the season.

Our friends at the Kenosha Running Company have a cool event coming up. Check it out here.

Bristol Woods is the perfect host for the annual Boreas Trail Adventure alongside the Canicross event The Barkside of Winter This beautiful park and its trails take you through ups and downs and twists and turns. The 3 mile(-ish) looped course is single track and double-wide trails. We be inside Pringle Nature Center before the event to keep warm!

Plan on joining us and being a kid again! The snow-covered trails (fingers crossed) will be all you need to remember the fun you had making snow angels, snow people (or snow dogs), snow tunnels, and having snowball fights. (But please only start a snowball fight on the trail with willing participants!) You can tromp through the woods on a 3 mile(-ish) loop for up to up to 4 loops.

Canicross runners will start at 10:20am. Runner/Walkers/Hobblers will start shortly after at 10:30am.

AND... just like when you were a kid, we will be waiting for you inside Pringle Nature Center with a cup of hot chocolate as you enjoy the company of your fellow trail enthusiasts. Please BYO dessert to share! Swag will be available for purchase.

Great company will make the end of your Boreas Trail Adventure one of the most fun things you can do outdoors in February.

This event is perfect for all fitness levels and is still dog-friendly for those not interested in the Canicross event.

We would also like to thank those that have supported us this year. Thanks to the Red Barn Farm for allowing us to use your property and helping us with the trail. Thanks to MJ's Coffee Bar for keeping us warm and our bellies full. Thanks to Bandit's Boutique for the collars for the sportsman award, prize table and obstacle course winner. Thanks to Dr. Yocum at the Sutton Road Animal Hospital for being on site and Paws 4 Kids 4 Paws sharing their information, Kathy R and Siberian Husky Club of Greater Chicago for your financial donations. It's because of these supporters we can continue to put the race on. Thanks again everyone!

The trail is in and it looks fantastic. All the corn is still up so you'll get a different perspective this year. The trail is the same as last year and is shown below. There will not be trail maps available at the race site so if you want one, please print it at home and bring it along.
Remember-parking opens at 6:30. If you get there before our Parking Czar Dan does, wait up above for his instructions. No one moves down to the parking area until Dan says so.
Let's get ready to Rondy!

The course map will be posted this evening. Print one out and bring it along if you want one as we will not have copies at the site.

It's getting close, are you ready? A couple of reminders for Saturday.
1) Gate opens at 6:30am, Dan our parking Czar will be telling you where to park. Please do not argue with him about it. The parking area is smaller this year. If you want to park next to friends, meet somewhere and drive in together, we can't hold spots for people.
2) If you are a spectator, leave your dog at home. Only dogs participating in the event are allowed. Also, parking for spectators is up by the old store front building.
3) Keep your dog at your vehicle. You should not be walking your dog around the parking lot. That is race etiquette.
4) If your dog eliminates, pick it up and take it home with you. There will be no garbage cans at the site. Any garbage you create goes home with you.
5) If you use straw at your vehicle, it must go home with you. Please do not make us remind you to take it home. If you do not, you will not be able to run next year.
6) The weather is going to be chilly in the morning. Remember to dress appropriately, it's always windy at the farm. There is no indoors to warm up in.
7) MJ's Coffee Bar will be serving hot drinks and food. Bring water for you and your dogs.
9) This is a working farm so there may be equipment in the background moving around. As of yesterday, the fields have not been harvested. We will see if that changes in the next 2 days.
10) There will be port-a-potties on site.
11) The drivers meeting is at 8am and is mandatory. First driver leaves the chute at 9am.
12) It is your responsibility to keep track of your chute times. If you miss your chute time, you go to the back of the line with the clock running.

LETS GET READY TO RONDY!!

MUSHERS-check your email. If you registered, you will have an email confirmation. If you did not get one it means either you did not register, or you gave an incorrect email. Respond here or email us at [email protected] if you did not get the email and think you registered.
Thanks~
