Emergency Services Volunteers of McHenry County

ARRL Field Day ARRL Field Day is a contest held annually in the US and Canada on the fourth weekend of June. This past weekend, more than 31,000 amateur operators participated in this contest from remote locations. For the Emergency Services Volunteers, like with all amateur operators, this was great practice for when emergency communications is needed. Volunteers helped set up generators, light towers, and antennas which allowed us to operate remotely from the command trailer. The contest ran for 24 straight hours during which several volunteers whom are also amateur radio operators tried to make as many contacts as possible.

On April 27th, several members of the McHenry County Emergency Management Agency's Search and Rescue Team participated in a multi-agency exercise searching for a family of four that had gone missing in Spencer Park located in Belvidere Illinois. Agencies from across Illinois and Wisconsin train together to become better prepared for a real-life event.
