🎷 THIS is why Jazz on the Square exists. ❤️

A personal reflection from Kevin, President of Jazz on the Square

Sometimes a photograph captures everything we're trying to accomplish.

Following our September gathering, I received a heartfelt message from a former music educator who had watched us on Facebook Live. She spoke about the joy of seeing young musicians learning alongside experienced players, and how watching a father and his young son perform together nearly brought her to tears. She wrote, "I think that kid will always remember that moment."

Last night, during our October gathering, I shared part of her message with everyone. I found myself deeply moved as I read her words aloud. And then there's this photograph from last night. The very same father and son, back again, sharing the music and the moment with fellow musicians.

This is what Jazz on the Square is all about. It's not simply about playing jazz. It's about passing along a musical tradition, encouraging the next generation, building friendships, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

To everyone who joined us last night, whether in person or through Facebook Live, and to every musician who helps make these evenings possible, thank you.

The music matters. The people matter. And moments like these are why we keep doing it. 🎶
