Our Submarine Memorial at Veterans War Memorial in Salina, KS at Sunset Park is complete!
It’s been 18 months since we kicked off the project and we are ready to have a dedication on Veterans Day.
Thanks to The O.J. & Norma Cooper Fund from The Greater Salina Community Foundation and The Dorado Base members. It proudly stands as a tribute to the submariners that perished in WWII and to all US Submariners.

The granite is etched and engraved. We are on track to have our memorial installed at the Sunset War Memorial in Salina Kansas by Veterans Day.

We are now excepting Pre Orders at a reduced cost for the next few weeks. Make your mark with the purchase of a brick for our memorial! They will be placed around the base of the large granite memorial.

Here is a preview of the Memorial we are placing in Salina, KS.
It has been 10 months in the making and the black granite is in Salina after being quarried in South Dakota and etched in Oklahoma. It is basically 4’ x 4’ with a base. There will be bricks surrounding the memorial in a 10’ foundation. These bricks will be available for engraving at $100 prior to installation and $150 after installation. This will be an opportunity to put the name your favorite veteran or your business name on the memorial.
An order form will be posted soon. We will be picking up the bricks in the next few weeks and starting on the engraving and foundation. This project is being 100% funded by the USSVI Dorado Base.

The Dorado Base held our quarterly meeting in Salina KS and gave us a chance for a field trip to the location of our new Submarine Memorial. We hope to have it installed in 2026. Stay turned for progress.

Dorado Base set sail at Freedom Fest 2026 in Junction City, Kansas on the 4th of July to celebrate our country’s 250th year of Independence.
A little rain and lightning added to the excitement and about half of the crowd stayed until the end. 🇺🇸

Dorado Base was at the McPherson All Schools Day Parade. It was a large and appreciative crowd. We had a great member turn out!
