Looking for 5-6 scouts interested in helping with light serving duties for the Sisters who are hosting a fundraising dinner for the Franciscan Friars who have a place in Wichita now. The guest speaker at the gala event is Bishop Kemme. There is Mass at 6pm and the dinner is immediately following. They would love scouts in uniform. All proceeds from the event help the Franciscans here. There are also tickets still available for any wishing to go support these awesome men who are founding their novitiate program here in our diocese!

Join us on the evening of Saturday, October 17 for an unforgettable event in support of the lives and ministries of the Capuchin Franciscans. It’s that time of year! Why not start a small group in your unit? If you want to find a group please reach out to us! There will be east and west side options for those who don’t have a unit leading the emblems.

Looking for a volunteer to help organize a few scouts to be honor guards along the Mid West Catholic Family Conference Eucharistic Procession August 1. Every year youth holding banners or candles line the route around Century 2. I asked if scouts in uniform could do this. They would love to have 10 or so scouts in uniform…. I’m leaving for National Jamboree and won’t return until that day. I’d like a leader to organize this. Let me know if you are interested. I’ll put you in touch with the contact lady….

The St George Vocation Trek is set to take off for Philmont tomorrow morning and Ivy Doeger from Quivira Council is amping the participants! Please keep them all in your prayers as they trek across Philmont in prayer and adventure!

Good morning from Albuquerque!

All 39 participants arrived safely from across the U.S. and the 2026 St George Trek is underway!

Yesterday afternoon we gathered in-person for the first time and our Scouts began forming the bonds with their trek crew members. It was fantastic seeing everyone laughing and bonding. Following Mass celebrated by Bishop Mike Fisher (Diocese of Buffalo) our Scouts spent more time meeting as crews before going to sleep.

Today our crews will be attending classes focusing on leadership, communication - conflict management, vocations and holding various equipment shakedown activities. They are all preparing both spiritually and physically all while drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated.

Tomorrow morning we depart at 6 AM for Philmont where they will participate in Day 1 activities, to include: a Philmont base camp tour, collecting crew equipment and route planning. Following Mass at the Philmont Catholic chapel we will attend the opening show. On Saturday morning we all head out on the trail!

Pray for their success and safety! St. George pray for us.
