Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. There are 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious,

and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Today is November 13, World Kindness Day.

Kindness is more than just a smile or a polite gesture. It's a mindset - a commitment to seeing others as worthy of dignity and care.

In Rotary, kindness shows up in every act of service, every shared project, and every moment when someone chooses to make life better for someone else.

It doesn't have to be big to matter: a text, a helping hand, a pause to really listen.

Today's a chance to choose kindness, not just as an act, but as a habit.

Let's be intentional about it.

City of Wheaton Mayor Phil Suess presents the proclamation recognizing World Polio Day and The Rotary Clubs of Wheaton's part in the worldwide effort to End Polio Now.

During this week’s City Council meeting, the Rotary Club of Wheaton & the Rotary Club of Wheaton A.M. were recognized with a proclamation from Mayor Suess proclaiming World Polio Day in Wheaton on Oct. 24. Since 1985, Rotary International has partnered with organizations worldwide to immunize children and work toward eradicating polio. Thanks to these global efforts, polio cases have decreased by more than 99.9% since 1988. The proclamation celebrated the dedication of our local Rotarians and their continued commitment to creating a polio-free world.

113 years ago, Rotary crossed a border—and started a movement.

On April 13th, 1912, the Rotary Club of Winnipeg received its charter, becoming the first club formed outside the United States, and making Rotary an international organization. That step laid the foundation for the global impact we see today.

Let’s celebrate this historic milestone by recommitting to our shared mission of service without borders.

Service in action! Rotary Club of Wheaton was proud to join forces with volunteers from the Wheaton Illinois Lions Club and Milton Township at the 2025 Recycling Extravaganza, hosted by SCARCE and the City of Wheaton Government.

Together, we helped safely recycle everything from electronics to eyeglasses — proving that when we work as one, we can protect our planet and serve our community at the same time.

Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to make a difference. For more on environmental programs and rescue/reuse initiatives, check out www.scarce.org.

April is Environment Month – Rotary’s Call to Care for Our Planet

In April, Rotary shines a global spotlight on one of the most urgent challenges of our time: the health of our environment.

Designated as Environment Month, this is a time for Rotary clubs worldwide to renew their commitment to sustainability, conservation, and climate resilience. And while Rotary has long worked in water, sanitation, and disease prevention, our focus on the environment affirms something deeper—that the well-being of people is inseparable from the well-being of our planet.

From reforestation efforts to zero-waste initiatives, from clean energy to clean water, Rotarians are already leading the way. These aren’t just service projects—they’re acts of hope and compassion. They’re our promise to future generations that we will leave the Earth better than we found it.

Environmental stewardship is not a luxury—it’s a responsibility. As People of Action, we understand that lasting peace and prosperity are impossible without ecological balance.

This April, let us serve with open hearts and sustainable hands. Let’s plant, protect, educate, and advocate—for the soil, the seas, the skies, and every life they nourish.

Because when we care for the Earth, we care for humanity.
