Multiple researchers will discuss their work in the Calumet region at an open house Saturday, February 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central at Indiana University Northwest (IUN). The gathering is hosted by the Northern Lake County Environmental Partnership and IUN. If you cannot attend the open house, a video of that event will be shown Tuesday, March 3 Zoom meeting at 5 p.m. Central time (Q&A to follow). The Wehr Nature Center is a 220-acre nature preserve located in Whitnall Park, Milwaukee County Park’s largest park. Home to over 400 native plant species and hundreds of bird species, Wehr Nature Center is a hotspot for local wildlife and botanical viewing by nearly 200k annual visitors. 🐥

Jeff Veglahn – Land Manager at the Wehr Nature Center – will discuss the history of Center, the Center’s restoration goals, activities, and challenges, and how volunteers and the public are engaged in this important work.

Abstracts should be submitted for all individuals planning on presenting in any format, including oral, speed, and poster presentations.

The deadline to submit an abstract is March 15, 2026. Applicants will be notified whether their abstracts have been accepted or deferred in late March/early April 2026.
