Joseph and Elegie Locascio Scholarship Fund To honor Joseph and Elegie LoCascio, mentors extraordinaire, of DeKalb High School

The LoCascio Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating DHS senior who has shown outstanding dedication to the art of creative writing, including the craft of poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, the study of literature, and the editorial work of literary publication. It is a merit based $1000 college scholarship created by alumni to honor Joseph and Elegie LoCascio, mentors extraordinaire

during their teaching careers and to this day. Selection criteria include student writing samples and teacher recommendation. Once the LoCascio Scholarship grows to sufficient size, an additional $1000 grant will be given annually to DeKalb High School for use by faculty to support Humanities and creative writing instruction.
