As I reflect on my time within the Miss America Opportunity, I often think about how much I’ve grown over the past five years.
If you swipe to the second photo, you’ll see 18 year old Kylie. At the time, I didn’t fully realize the impact this organization would have on my life. In my very first year competing within the Miss Illinois Organization, I was honored to earn the title of Miss Illinois’ Teen, an accomplishment I will never take for granted.
I was quickly immersed into this new world, with just over 30 days to prepare for the Miss America’s Teen stage. I felt excited, grateful, and most of all, nervous. I remember questioning myself—“Am I a good Miss Illinois’ Teen?” or “Am I worthy of this role?”
Now, at 23, I can confidently say I gave that role everything I had. I served with heart, led with pride, and fully committed myself to the experience. But at the time, I was still discovering who Kylie truly was.
Today, I’m proud of the work I’ve done to find my path within the Miss America Organization. I understand my purpose, and within the last year, I committed to grow to my highest potential.
The girl in the second photo is still a part of me, and I know she would be so proud of how far we’ve come. Miss Illinois week, I’m ready for you. 🤍
