Sunnyvale Education Foundation

Sunnyvale Education Foundation Supporting a high quality, enriched education for all Sunnyvale School District students.

Sunnyvale Education Foundation (SEF) raises funds to be used for the benefit of students at all ten of the Sunnyvale School District (SSD) elementary and middle schools. We prioritize support for programs that may not get funding through site, district or school-based parent/teacher group resources alone. Where the district has human-power to get a job done or a program started, SEF looks to suppo

rt that with funds and in any other way we are able. We also promote communication and sharing of ideas between sites to build on strengths across SSD, and support site volunteerism. Sunnyvale Education Foundation envisions a school district wherein all children thrive as the entire community helps ensure a sustained, enriched, high-quality education for all students. SEF’s outreach and fundraising efforts benefit every K-8 student, foster equity and consistency among school sites, and promote sustained and effective allocation of resources across the district. SEF seeks and promotes representative voices from across the Sunnyvale School District as it works toward this vision.

Science camp send off at Cherry Chase! SEF President Michelle Eugeni and Cherry Chase Site Rep Sanjay Kumar organized a send off table for Cherry Chase parents. We wish all the students a fantastic transformative week of outdoor education! 🌱

It was recently announced Walden West will be closed next year for renovations, but don’t worry: SSD 5th graders will still get to go to science camp, though the cost to the district is likely to exceed $500 per student. It is important now more than ever to contribute to the science camp fund -- and if your company does corporate matching, even better! Please consider making a donation if your 5th grader loved Science Camp!

Welcome back Fairwood and Lakewood 5th graders from what we hear was an amazing week of outdoor education!
It was a busy week, but SEF Fairwood site rep Groppo was able to set up a send off table with homemade muffins and posters for parents and loved ones this past Monday. For a real treat check out the music video Fairwood and Lakewood 5th grader teachers -bent1110 collaborated on (link in the comments). For a few years they’ve been making music videos that offer a sneak peak into science camp, and Walden West, truly a labor of love! It was recently announced Walden West will be closed next year for renovations, but don’t worry, SSD 5th graders will still get to go to science camp, though the cost to the district is likely to exceed $500 per student. It is important now more than ever to contribute to the science camp fund, and if your company does corporate matching, even better! Happening today, Friday April 10th 4-5:30pm!
Please share with Sunnyvale School District families who might benefit: as we go into a week-long break, there is a food distribution after school. Note the format is different than past distributions: today will be a farmers market style format open with hours 4-5:30pm. Bring a wagon or a second set of helping hands. Thank you to SSD’s community partner Second Harvest of Silicon Valley , for your consistent support of our community. 💛ssd

Thanks to everyone who made this such a successful community event! SEF worked intentionally bring together students, school staff, including teachers, administrators, outreach coordinators, and social worker designing and running multiple stations for an evening of programming that was student centered. We had students prepare food, act as our official photographers (and photo credits to Andy Reagan), students entertained with an amazing dance performance, and ran the math festival station; AND we exceeded our fundraising goal of $15,000!

We can't wait to see San Miguel Elementary PTA students "let it go" in their rendition of Frozen Jr! SEF provided $10,000 toward this production, allowing students to grow as performers and as a team. We are so proud of the cast and loved seeing these notes from them (pictured) -- important reminders that equitable enrichment makes a difference in the lives of Sunnyvale students.

If you'd like to check out Frozen Jr., tickets are available for 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. performances tonight and tomorrow at the door of the San Miguel multipurpose room. Break a leg, Sharks!

Wow! SEF had a fantastic Showcase and could not have done it without all our attendees, donors, partners, sponsors, and gracious hosts at Ellis Elementary. Together we exceeded our fundraising goal of $15,000! Our SEF board members (most of whom are pictured here) would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined 🌱
