Biscotti A2553673 is a 6-year-old intact male French Bulldog weighing 23 lbs. and has tested negative for Heartworms.
He arrived at the PRC as an injured stray, dragging his hind limbs with rigid extension and no deep pain response.
Radiographs revealed a congenital spinal abnormality known as a T12 hemivertebra, along with disc space compression around T11–13, raising concern for intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).
Unfortunately, given the lack of deep pain response and the chronic nature of his injuries, his prognosis for regaining hind-limb function is poor.
Biscotti also has a large, chronic pressure sore over his left hip and outer thigh that appears to have developed over weeks to months, as well as moderate dental disease.
He has started treatments to address his suspected IVDD.
His bladder function requires close monitoring, as he has needed manual expression to empty it.
He will also need frequent hygiene care, wound management, and ongoing assessment of his comfort and urination.
Please let us know if you can help Biscotti.
