This is what democracy looks;

*Active (showing up)
*Generationally diverse
*Led by those with lived experience in collaboration with others who are not afraid to challenge narratives they’ve created and entertained

We’ve just scratched the surface with members of Reach’s LEAB to:

*Shift (narratives)
*Act (in a way that is thoughtful & respectful)
*Speak (to dispell myths)

Food insecurity doesn’t discriminate; it doesn’t know a face, age, ethnicity or gender.

It strikes those who are most vulnerable like the 33,000 children in our community who rely on programs like SNAP.

Many of these same children are unhoused.

In partnership with donors and volunteers we set out to provide relief this past week and delivered groceries, produce, hygiene kits and resources to over 55 vehicle dweller households.

Many of these food insecure households lack even basic necessities such as electricity. How is this even possible in SV?

Stay tuned: Reach is working on an initiative to bring power supplies to our SV neighbors.

It takes a village.

This past week 50+ neighbors engaged in a Zoom meeting with Chief Canfield and the Mountain View Police Department to dialogue about immigration.

Thank you Chief Canfield for taking time to address the Community’s concerns.

This past Sunday we wrapped up Compassion Week with many partners. What a week!

We are grateful for the forums on Immigration & Youth Mental Health. Wonderful dialogue and A LOT of learning.

We are grateful for the two groups who gathered to build 500 hygiene kits for vehicle dwellers we serve.

We are grateful for the team who packed special kits and groceries for vehicle dweller households and helped deliver them.

We are honored to have been the featured Partner at the wrap up dinner highlighting our partnership supporting the hard working women in our community.

Thank you Los Altos United Methodist Church and Compassion Week Los Altos volunteers.

What a great day at Castlemont Elementary with Assemblymember Marc Berman, his amazing team and the awesome exhibitors serving our community.

Reach SV distributed fresh vegetables, pantry items, vitamins, feminine hygiene products and lots of smiles 🤩😊😁.

Adding: We also had the honor of providing safety helmets and locks, raffle items too, even a pair of Air Force Ones.

Join us tomorrow at Assemblymember Berman’s Health and Wellness Fair.

This summer Reach has been working on formalizing its Vehicle Dweller - Lived Experience Advisory Board (LEAB).

A recent grant from Palo Alto Vineyard Church's Compassion Board has made it possible to help form a LEAB and increase frequency of outreach.

The current LEAB team is made up of individuals who are;
*currently living in their vehicles (in safe lots and on the streets)
*in shelters after transitioning out of their vehicles
*stably housed prior vehicle dwellers

While we've always relied on vehicle dweller inputs to direct our work, this really puts them at the forefront of leading the charge.

Over the summer the LEAB has been busy distributing food, resources, immigration information and City notices to help them stay informed of their rights and responsibilities as dweller citizens.

Thank you Palo Alto Vineyard Church for your sponsorship of Reach's LEAB.

Reach is honored to continue its support of North SCC McKinney Vento families with children living in RVs/vehicles and those doubled (tripled, etc.) up.

In this post Silicon Valley at Home discusses student homelessness in Santa Clara County or as another County calls it "Students in Transition". It's a very well written post that highlights the growing number of students in transition.

By supporting Reach you are supporting families in your backyard who find themselves in transition. Thank you for your continued support.

This back-to-school season, we recognize the growing challenge of student homelessness affecting more kids and families in our communities and commit to supporting solutions that help every child have what they deserve: a stable home and a supportive school to thrive. As students head back to classr...

Thank you Reach donors for your generous support of back to school donations of socks, supplies and cosmetic / hygiene items for unhoused and low income students.

We reached our goal to serve 200 students.

We had fun tabling with our community partner CityTeam who provided backpacks, clothing and household items at one location and snacks and food distribution information at another.
