Opportunities

• Host Orientation meetings.

Opportunities for Individuals
• Create Care Packages
• Get involved at your local Child Welfare office. Help spruce up your local office or provide much needed encouragement to DSHS Child Welfare Staff. No time, talent or gift too small!!
• Become an office mom or office dad-Ensure that no child waits alone while in a DSHS Child Welfare Office. Volunteers entertain, care for and distract children

in the office while their worker looks for a placement or has a meeting. facebook.com/EmbraceWashington
Business Partnerships
• Donate needed goods and services directly to your local DSHS Child Welfare office. (This could be tangible needs of the office such as furniture and rugs or providing some much needed encouragement to staff through a donated lunch, coffee or treats. (A tax ID letter may be available)
• Host an event at your business for those interested in supporting vulnerable families.
• Invite someone from DSHS Child Welfare to come and give a presentation to your business about the needs and reality of children in our community.
• Donate supplies or money to support an event for the retention of foster parents (Such as Foster Parent’s Night Out) or for the recruitment of foster and adoptive parents. Foster parents from your congregation along with local DSH contact can host an informational session about becoming a foster parent.
• Start a Foster Parents’ Night Out-churches and volunteers partner with DSHS to provide an evening of respite for foster parents while kids have a safe and fun experience. e-mail: [email protected]

💚 Why the hearts?

You may notice that we sometimes place hearts over the faces of children in our photos. Children in foster care are a vulnerable and protected population, and safeguarding their privacy and identity is incredibly important to us.

We still want to share the joy and special moments happening in their lives while making sure their safety always comes first.

When you see a heart, just know there’s a pretty amazing kid behind it. ❤️💚💙

As families across our community work to rebuild after the wildfires, we know that for children, even the little things can help bring back a sense of normalcy.

Thanks to funds donated specifically to support families impacted by the fires, we were able to purchase back-to-school supplies for children in our Embrace families who were affected by the wildfires. ❤️

After experiencing so much uncertainty and disruption, these kids deserve to walk into school feeling prepared, confident, and excited for a fresh start. New notebooks, folders, pencils, crayons, and all the basics may seem simple, but they mean one less worry for a family already carrying so much.

There is nothing more heart warming than to see a former foster child helping other children in foster care!

Blu and several other volunteers painted duffel bags for children entering foster care at Life Center during their annual Love Week.

We were told Blu still has the duffel bag he received when he first entered foster care. He was so excited to paint one for another child in need.

Embrace Washington provides cheerful and functional duffel bags to children entering foster care to provide a little more dignity during a challenging time.

A new backpack.
A clean pair of pajamas.
A favorite stuffed animal.

To most children, these are ordinary things. For a child entering foster care, they can mean comfort during one of the hardest days of their life.

At Embrace Washington, we believe every child deserves dignity, comfort, and hope no matter what brought them into care.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness leave the biggest impact.

We don't just have a foster parent recruitment problem. We have a foster parent retention problem.

Every year, compassionate families open their homes to children in foster care. Every year, many of those same families make the heartbreaking decision to close their licenses.

Not because they stopped caring.

But because fostering is hard, and too many families feel like they have to do it alone.

Imagine how many more children could experience stability if we focused not only on recruiting new foster parents, but on surrounding existing foster families with encouragement, practical resources, respite, and a community that says, "We've got you."

At Embrace Washington, that's exactly what we strive to do. When we support foster parents, we support the children who depend on them.

Want to make a difference? You don't have to become a foster parent to support one. Volunteer, donate, or simply encourage a foster family in your community. Together, we can help more families continue saying "yes" to children who need them most. 💚

Reading the same bedtime story.

Knowing what tomorrow will bring.

Having clean clothes ready for school.

Eating dinner together.

Knowing someone will be there after school.

These ordinary moments become extraordinary for children who have experienced trauma.
