The council is incorporated in the State of Washington and has its headquarters in Spokane. The Spokane Scout Service Center includes a Scout Store that features a wide variety of Scouting merchandise including uniforms, insignia, camping equipment, recognition items and more. The council owns and operates three camps to support the Scouting program: Camp Grizzly on the Palouse River near Potlatc

What could your Unit do with an extra 50 hours this year?
Plan more campouts?
Recruit more families?
Spend more time with Scouts?
That's why so many Units choose Trail's End. By helping Scouts fund their entire year of Scouting in as little as one weekend, leaders can spend less time fundraising and more time focused on the program
Less fundraising. More Scouting. 🏕️

📣 Important Membership Renewal Update

Scouting America has announced that the current membership lapse period will be phased out and will end on **December 31, 2026**.

🔹 What Is Changing?

The lapse period has allowed members a short grace period after their renewal date before their membership becomes inactive. As Scouting America moves toward a simpler and more consistent renewal system, this lapse period will gradually be reduced and then eliminated.

📅 Key Dates

✅ Members with an **October 2026** renewal date will be the last to receive the full **two-month lapse period**.

✅ Members with a **November 2026** renewal date will receive a **one-month lapse period**.

✅ Members with a **December 2026** renewal date will receive **no lapse period**.

Beginning in September 2026, new and renewing units will use the standard charter fee plus pro rata fees through February 2028.

📅 Beginning January 1, 2027, members must be current in their registration to maintain active status.

Unit leaders, committee members, and families should begin planning ahead to ensure memberships are renewed on time and there is no interruption in participation, advancement, or registration status.

More information will be shared as Scouting America continues implementing its simplified membership and renewal processes.

📣 Program Update: Certain Previously Prohibited Activities Are Now Allowed

Scouting America has updated its guidance regarding several activities that were previously prohibited. The following activities are now permitted when conducted safely and appropriately:

✅ Laser tag
✅ Low-pressure water guns
✅ Pie in the face activities

As with all Scouting activities, leaders are expected to apply the principles of SAFE Scouting and follow all applicable safety guidance.

For “pie in the face” activities, Scouting America has published a detailed SAFE Checklist that includes:
🥽 Required eye protection
🥧 Proper pie materials and application methods
🪑 Safety procedures to reduce injury risk
🧼 Cleanup and first aid considerations

Key reminders include:
• Only consenting adults may receive pies in the face
• Pies should be placed gently — never thrown
• Disposable aluminum tins or paper plates only
• Eye protection is required
• Participants must be seated during the activity

Here’s some clarity on the Safeguarding Youth Training:

🎓 Old YPT (no 90-minute course completed)?
➡️ Full 90-minute course required

⏰ 90-minute course expired more than 6 days ago?
➡️ Full 90-minute course required

🔄 90-minute course expired 6 days or less OR still active?
➡️ Refresher course assigned

📧 Renewal emails will direct participants to “My Training”, where they can select “Take Course” or “Retake Course”. The system will automatically guide them to the correct training based on their status.

⚠️ Important note - Anyone who has completed only the refresher without ever completing the full 90-minute course will still need to complete the full course. Clearing the browser cache may be necessary to ensure the “Retake Course” button routes correctly.
