Cooler weather and back-to-school mean the Greater Spokane Parks Challenge is coming to an end.

But don’t worry!

Thanks to our partners at Spokane City Credit Union (SCCU), you can still register and participate in August’s “Dog Days of Summer” until September 7, 2026. All you have to do is enjoy one of Spokane’s parks and share a picture of you and your four-legged best friend. For every challenger who registers, SCCU will donate to the Spokane Parks Foundation.

You can win Lazer Maxx Tickets for three, a Flatstick Golf and Pizza package for six, or one of two bonus prizes: a gift certificate to Tomato Street Gift, or two Garland Theater tickets.

We’re so grateful for our amazing partnership with SCCU and the chance to celebrate our area’s outdoor spaces.

This special weekend is only possible because of the amazing people who continue to support the Cheney community. Thank you!

Did you see The Pavilion in Riverfront Park glowing pink in honor of Dolly Parton? 💖

It was lit up last night and will shine pink again tonight!

We’ve had some issues with our Skycam this morning, so we haven’t been able to show it to you live on GMNW 😞 But Alexandra Coenjaerts KXLY snapped this beautiful photo for us!

The city has also ordered all flags at city facilities to be lowered to half-staff through September 1. 🇺🇸
