This past Thursday, Bro. Stukes and Bro. Tanner graduated from the Spartanburg County Foundation’s Grassroots Leadership Development Institute! Over the last seven months, both have dedicated immense effort, enthusiasm, and time to the program.⁣
⁣
Additionally, on October 12th, 2026, both brothers received official City of Spartanburg Proclamations for their respective initiatives. Bro. Stukes successfully had the City proclaim “Citizen Scholar Institute Day” in honor of the organization’s 30th anniversary. Bro. Tanner secured a proclamation designating October as “National Hate Crime Awareness Month,” which coincided with the City recognizing the one-year anniversary of the Hate Intimidation Ordinance that he drafted and lobbied to pass.

Last week, Bro. Young led a panel discussion on “What Can I Do with A Chemistry Degree?” at his alma maters, Wofford College. Bro. Young is a Lab Technician in polymeric colorants and ingredients at Milliken and Co. Congratulations on continuing the work, Brother! 🤙🏾

This weekend was a great success! Brothers Glymph, Jones, and Tanner knocked on 225 doors in the Una-Saxon community to remind residents to register to vote, make a voting plan, and become poll observers. Bro. Tanner, along with the GOTV Spartanburg Coalition, also hosted a table at the Spartanburg International Festival. There, they engaged with over 700 people to share information about registering to vote, researching candidates on the ballot, obtaining sample ballots, and signing up as poll observers. Additionally, 50 students ranging from third graders to college sophomores, experienced using a voting machine for the very first time.
