On behalf of the Palmetto State Literacy Association, we honor Dolly Parton for the lasting difference she made in the lives of children through the gift of reading.

In 1995, Dolly founded the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, inspired in part by her father, who could not read or write. What began as an effort to place books in the hands of children in her hometown grew into a global literacy movement rooted in love, access, and the belief that every child deserves the wonder of a story.

Through the Imagination Library, children from birth through age five receive a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book each month, delivered directly to their homes. More than 325 million books have been gifted worldwide, inspiring countless bedtime stories, family conversations, new words, and tons of possibilities.

Your songs lifted our spirits, but your books filled children’s hands and imaginations. Thank you, Dolly, for helping generations of children dream more, learn more, care more, and be more. We honor a life of generosity and a literacy legacy that will continue to inspire generations of children.

May we continue turning the pages and opening doors for every child. 📖✨
