π Kindergarten Ready Starts at Home! π
June is the perfect time to help your preschooler build the skills they'll need for a successful start to kindergarten. Small moments every day can make a big difference!
Here are 5 simple things families can do this month:
β
Read together every day
Spend 15-20 minutes reading books, talking about pictures, and asking questions about the story.
β
Practice writing their name
Let your child trace, copy, and eventually write their first name on drawings, cards, and crafts.
β
Build independence
Encourage your child to put on shoes, zip jackets, wash hands, and clean up toys on their own.
β
Count and sort during play
Count snacks, sort laundry by color, or identify shapes around the house to build early math skills.
β
Talk, talk, talk!
Conversations help build vocabulary. Ask open-ended questions like, "What was your favorite part of today?" and "Why do you think that happened?"
π Remember: Kindergarten readiness isn't about knowing everything. It's about developing confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
