What if a neshama chooses this world before we ever understand why?

In this powerful message, Rabbi Manis Friedman puts words to something every person should hear.

At Shifra, that belief is at the heart of everything we do. We’re here to support women facing an unexpected pregnancy with the care, resources, and community they deserve.

Her husband was leaving for the Vietnam War. She was pregnant, scared, and being told not to have her baby.

More than 50 years later, that baby is sitting beside her, telling the story of the life that came next.

Years later, when Adele found SHIFRA, she found the support she wished had existed for her and wanted to be part of giving that to someone else.

Today, Adele sits on SHIFRA’s board.

These days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, as we ask Hashem to seal us in the Book of Life, her story reminds us just how much life can come after one frightening chapter.

Help us be there for the woman who can’t see those chapters yet.

On Rosh Hashanah, we ask to be written in the Book of Life. At SHIFRA, we spend every day helping women who are facing an unexpected pregnancy find the support, resources, and care they need to move forward.

In this message, SHIFRA founder Erica Pearlman shares what it means to be there for a woman when the next page of her story feels uncertain.

This Rosh Hashanah, open your heart and help another story continue to be written.

In 1970, Adele was a 19 year-old college student when she found out she was pregnant. She will never forget what happened the day she went to Planned Parenthood. We’ll let you hear her own words...

On Rosh Hashanah, the Book of Life will open.

Today, imagine the pregnant woman who doesn’t know what to choose.

Today, she is asking for help, not judgment.

She might be married or getting divorced. She might have 4 children or none. She might be on verge of homelessness or have a mortgage to pay. She might a college student or a PhD.

Today, she calling for help. More calls are coming in from Brooklyn to LA than ever before, with more opportunities to save lives and transform them.

On Rosh Hashanah, we ask to be written in the Book of Life.

And in the very words we read, we meet women who longed, prayed, and hoped for the gift of a child.

This Rosh Hashanah, SHIFRA is honoring life, the women who carry it, and the hope that can change everything.

Because sometimes, changing one story starts with giving one woman the support to write her next chapter.

This Rosh Hashanah, we’re thinking about all the lives that have touched ours this year, and all the mothers who have let Shifra be part of their story.

Rabbi Meir Soloveichik reminds us why life is always worth celebrating.

Wishing you a sweet new year. 🍎🍯
