Every child deserves to see themselves reflected in the stories they read, and every young person deserves the opportunity to have their voice heard.

We're excited to share our partnership with AHSHAY and to support the Storybook Project, an initiative that empowers youth impacted by systemic injustice to become published authors and storytellers. Through this collaboration, these powerful, youth-created stories will be available to more than 250,000 readers worldwide through the BookSmart app.

This partnership is about so much more than books. By bringing these authentic stories to children and families around the world, we're helping readers connect with diverse experiences while building literacy and a deeper understanding of one another.

"The Storybook Project is so meaningful because it doesn’t just encourage literacy; it affirms belonging, creativity, and voice. Through this partnership with AHSHAY and Young Authors Publishing, we’re helping ensure these young authors are not only heard but celebrated and shared with readers everywhere." - Rebecca Chandler Leege, CEO of Worldreader

We are honored to help amplify these young authors on a global scale and look forward to the impact their stories will have on readers everywhere.

After the incredible success of our 2026 reading challenges so far, we're excited to launch our first global challenge in five languages, bringing families around the world together through the joy of reading.

Our data shows that families who read 10+ books together are more likely to make reading a lasting habit. Donate via our website to support the challenge to help even more families discover the joy of reading together.

Magic, memories, and a love of reading came together with Harry Potter™ at our annual reading party in Nairobi, Kenya!

Last month, families who participated in the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Reading Challenge on BookSmart gathered at Imaara Mall for a day of celebration, connection, and fun. With trivia, face painting, and special recognition for families who completed all 17 chapters, the event celebrated the joy of reading together.

The celebration also marked the one-year anniversary of our Get Kenya Reading campaign. With more than 175 guests in attendance, it was a wonderful reminder of the power of shared reading to bring families together and inspire a lifelong love of books.

A special thank you to our partner Pottermore Publishing and our incredible BookSmart community in Kenya for helping make reading truly magical!

Back-to-school season is about more than new backpacks and sharpened pencils. It's about making sure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

At Worldreader, we believe that access to books and reading resources is a key part of school readiness. When children can build strong reading skills, they gain the confidence to succeed in the classroom and beyond.

As students head back to school, let's work together to ensure every learner has the stories, knowledge, and opportunities they deserve. Because every child deserves the chance to turn the page toward a brighter future.

School readiness begins long before a child walks into a classroom.

When families read together, children build the vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence that form the foundation for future learning. These early moments with books help prepare children not just to start school—but to thrive once they're there.

BookSmart, powered by Worldreader, supports school readiness by giving families free access to engaging digital books and simple tools that make reading together part of everyday life. By helping parents and caregivers build consistent reading routines, we're strengthening the skills children need for success from day one.

As families accross the globe prepare for the new school year, we're proud to walk alongside them to ensure more children have the opportunity to enter the classroom ready to learn.
