Leadership comes in many forms.

Sometimes it looks like gathering a few friends, baking salt bread and cookies, making homemade tiramisu, and deciding to do something good for your community.

That's exactly what James and his friends did.

After discovering Hamilton Families through a simple online search, they organized a home café fundraiser and raised an incredible $3,000 to help families experiencing homelessness in San Francisco. 🙌

Their generosity reminds us that you don't need a title, a large organization, or a major platform to make a meaningful impact. Real leadership starts when people see a need and take action.

To James and everyone who contributed, thank you for turning your talents, time, and compassion into hope for families working toward stable housing. We are honored to be part of your story and grateful to have community champions like you helping build a future where every family has a place to call home. 🧡

What an incredible night! 🥂🎉

Last night's Sip & Support fundraiser was a HUGE success!

Our Hamilton Families Mission Committee hosted an amazing happy hour at Jackalope, and the result was exactly what we hoped for: a room full of people coming together to build community, make new connections, and support families experiencing homelessness in our community.

Throughout the evening, we met so many new friends, shared conversations about the challenges facing families in our city, and raised critical funds that will help parents and children access the housing, shelter, and support they need to thrive.

We're especially grateful to everyone who attended, donated, tipped generously, and helped spread the word. BIG SHOUTOUT to our friends at Jackalope Bar SF for welcoming us in with open arms! Solving family homelessness takes an entire community showing up for one another. 🧡

Check out some of the fun highlights from the evening! 📸

Some people see a need and wonder who will help. Julie sees a need and gets to work. 💪

Yesterday, our incredible community champion Julie coordinated the distribution of 5,000 pairs of Bombas socks to support families in our Family Shelter, Transitional Housing, and Rapid Re-Housing programs!

On her own time, Julie connects nonprofits and social service organizations to resources that make a real difference in people's lives. Thanks to her dedication, thousands of parents and children in our programs will receive new socks—one of the most requested essentials for families arriving at our Family Shelter.

Swipe through for a few highlights from yesterday's pickup. ➡️

Julie, thank you for showing what looks like in action. 🧡

Behind every number is a family building a transformative future. 🧡

Because of your support, during Quarter 3 (January–March 2026), Hamilton Families helped:

🏠 38 families move from homelessness into stable housing
🏠 14 families secure housing right here in San Francisco
🏠 27 families avoid eviction through our Homelessness Prevention Assistance Program
🏠 51 families receive emergency shelter, case management, and wraparound support at our Family Shelter
🏠 20 families access interim housing and supportive services through our Transitional Housing Program

These aren't just statistics, they're parents finding stability, children gaining a sense of safety, and families building the foundation for a stronger future.

Thank you for making this impact possible. Together, we're helping families stay rooted, housed, and thriving in the communities they call home.

BIG shoutout to our incredible and long-time community partners at the Katherine Delmar Burke School for continuing to show up for families in such meaningful ways! 🧡

Last month, Burke School teachers spent the day at our Family Shelter helping beautify and organize some of our common spaces, creating welcoming environments where families can feel safe and supported.

Then, our team had the opportunity to visit the Burke School campus and speak with students about the realities of family homelessness in San Francisco, the remarkable journeys families take while in our programs, and the importance of community in helping families rebuild stability. To top it all off, their students created thoughtful gift bags for the moms in our programs, small acts of kindness that make a BIG impact.

Thank you, Burke School, for being such dedicated champions for families in our community. We are so grateful for your thoughtful partnership! ✨🫶

On this we're sending our gratitude to long-time volunteer and donor, Tonya, for showing up once again for our families! 🙌

Last week, Tonya hand delivered an incredible donation of brand new clothing, toiletries, and essential items for parents and children staying at our Family Shelter. These donations do so much more than fill shelves — they help families feel cared for, welcomed, and supported during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.

It’s community members like Tonya who remind our families that they are not alone. Thank you for continuing to stand alongside the families we have the privilege to serve! 🧡

Last week, our CEO, Kyriell Noon, had the opportunity to present at the Housing First Partners Conference on a topic that’s deeply shaping the future of our work at Hamilton Families: Housing First for Racial Justice and Long-Term Social Mobility.

For decades, family homelessness in San Francisco has disproportionately impacted Black and Brown families — not by accident, but as the result of generations of racist housing policies, displacement, and economic exclusion. And while Rapid Re-Housing has helped thousands of families move out of homelessness, we’ve also had to ask ourselves a difficult question:

Have homelessness response systems unintentionally contributed to the displacement of the very communities we aim to serve?

At Hamilton Families, we believe it’s our responsibility to confront that question head on.

That’s why we are evolving our approach beyond simply “housing families as quickly as possible wherever it is most affordable.” Through our Opportunity Neighborhoods initiative and broader Anti-Poverty strategy, we are asking a bigger question:

Can we keep Black and Brown families rooted in San Francisco and help them exit poverty for good?

Our answer is yes — but it requires a new way of thinking.

It means being intentional about where families are housed, surrounding them with opportunity-rich environments, and stacking long-term supports like workforce development, financial empowerment, educational opportunity, and community connection to create lasting mobility for future generations.

Housing is not the finish line. It’s the foundation.

We’re proud to be part of a growing national conversation challenging the homelessness response field to think bigger, move deeper, and design systems that don’t just respond to crisis — but actively create pathways out of poverty for families for generations to come.
