At Aim High, we see the incredible potential of every middle school student.

Since 1986 we have provided no-cost, high-quality summer programming for thousands of middle schoolers throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Aim High is a five-week summer enrichment program for rising 6th – 9th graders from low-income communities across the greater Bay Area. Offered at no cost to students and their families for up to four summers, Aim High helps middle schoolers build academic conf

idence, discover a love of learning, and develop the skills they need to thrive in high school and in life.

Every summer, Aim High celebrates educators who represent the very best of our community.

First awarded in 2004, the Anne Murray Ladd Teaching Fellowship honors Anne Murray Ladd, a beloved Aim High teacher whose spirit, passion, and commitment to social justice continue to shape our program.

This year’s awardees make students feel safe, seen, and supported. From alumni returning to teach, to assistant teachers growing into future educators, to staff bringing music, STEM, leadership, and joy to their campuses, they remind us what Aim High teaching is all about.

None of what we do happens without a place to do it. 🏫

Our school partners open their doors every summer so that students have somewhere to belong, learn, and grow. Most of our host schools sit right in the neighborhoods where our students live.

Across every region we serve, these schools became safe spaces where students could learn, connect, and just be kids.

Summer 2026 is a wrap, and what a summer it has been. 💛

None of it happens without the people who show up every single day.

To our students: Thank you for stepping into new friendships, leaning into hard lessons, and showing up even on the days it wasn't easy. Watching you grow this summer reminded us exactly why we do this work.

To our staff: Thank you for choosing Aim High again. For the early mornings, the patience, the care you brought into every classroom, and the way you showed students what it looks like when someone genuinely believes in them.

Summer matters, especially for middle school students.

For kids in 5th through 8th grade, summer can be a time when confidence grows, friendships deepen, curiosity expands, and a stronger sense of self begins to take shape.

That’s why Aim High is more than a summer program.

All summer long, students build relationships, find connection, grow their confidence, and develop the life skills that help them thrive in and beyond the classroom.

They also keep learning through STEM, literacy, humanities, and hands-on experiences that make summer feel meaningful, joyful, and full of possibility.

What are the most important rights we have? How are those rights applied in real life? And how can we make our voices heard? 📚🎙️

This summer, our 8th grade Humanities students are exploring these questions through reading, writing, discussion, research, and presentations.

Over the course of five weeks, students move from exploring the Bill of Rights to developing their own arguments, gathering evidence, and preparing a final product to share with their families and community.

The goal is more than strengthening reading and writing skills for the upcoming school year.

It's about helping students develop the confidence to think critically, express their ideas, and make their voices heard.

This is the power of Humanities at Aim High.
