Our mission is to connect our diverse community to opportunities, resources, and each other to achieve our vision of a stronger, healthier, and more equitable world for LGBTQ people and our allies. We host over 200 programs and welcome more than 9,000 individuals each month, in addition to providing affordable office space. The Center works to strengthen our community by fostering greater opportunities for people to thrive, offering aid in organizing for our future, celebrating our history and culture, and ultimately building resources to create a legacy for future generations. Our major program areas are:

Program Spotlight: Senior Community Service Employment Program! 💼

On Wednesday, October 14th we’ll have two Participant Assistants from the Felton institute Senior Community Service Employment Program! SCSEP provides workforce training for older adults in community service organizations and government departments, leading to job placements. Program participants receive a training stipend.

This spotlight will include a short presentation and time for questions.

🖼️ New art exhibition at the SF LGBT Center by multidisciplinary q***r Korean artist Jun Yang Jun Yang Juny Seokman Yang!

Jun describes this exhibition as “a love letter and an open invitation to San Francisco’s q***r community to see themselves. It is a space to celebrate q***r joy, recognize ourselves in it, and honor every form of who we are.”

Unfading Marks (지워지지 않는 얼룩들) is a mixed-media exhibition that features textile works, watercolor, acrylic, and oil paintings, alongside tactile soft sculptures to trace the ongoing struggle of embracing past painful memories as a q***r immigrant living in San Francisco. The interactive textile sculptures invite touch, turning art into an active site for collective healing vessels.

What do the headlines about Title IX really mean, and why does it matter? Here’s what you should know:

The revoked 2024 Title IX rule explicitly banned discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. This affects all LGBTQ+ students.

This is part of a larger attack on LGBTQ+ rights. Trump has also targeted gender-affirming care for trans youth and the support they receive at school. LGBTQ+ young people deserve to learn safely, get the care they need and grow up knowing they belong.

California still protects LGBTQ+ students. State law bars discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression in state-supported educational programs. Title IX itself also remains law.

Now is the time to support LGBTQ+ youth.
Now is the time to support the SF LGBT Center.
In 2025, our Drop-In Program supported 500+ young people with food, clothing, gender-affirming gear and resource referrals.

Let’s go to Lands End! Q***r & Well is partnering with the Parks Conservancy for another Recharge and Unplug event series. 🌿

Join us to delight in the wonders of bird life in the Bay Area, and to help care for the land that we and the birds call home. We’ll spend our time together meeting new friends in community, birdwatching, and tending land together through weeding and watering in bird habitat. 🦆
