Therapeutic Health Services

Therapeutic Health Services Washington’s leading nonprofit for addiction recovery and mental health care.

Compassionate, affordable treatment—including medication-assisted recovery for opioid use. Therapeutic Health Services (THS) operates on the belief that chemical dependency and mental illness are chronic, progressive diseases that respond to appropriate intervention, treatment, and prevention. By effectively employing all three, individuals and families are better able to lead healthy and producti

ve lives in their communities. At THS, we believe in treatment that addresses the whole person and every aspect of their life. Our approach includes mental health and family services, plus a wide range of chemical dependency treatments such as methadone and counseling. Years of working with the diverse community of Puget Sound have taught our staff the value of providing culturally relevant services that align with each individual’s needs. Our Mission: Fostering Healing & Recovery
Our clients in recovery and those managing their mental illness need more than counseling and medication treatments to function at their greatest capacity. That’s why we offer a complete range of supplemental services, including language and cultural expertise, family and community support, and vocational services. Our Vision: Improved Quality of Life for All
Each year, more people die or become disabled from substance abuse and severe mental illness than from any other preventable cause. In fact, one in four deaths in our country is the result of alcohol, drug, or tobacco abuse. You can imagine the enormous burden this places on everything from family life and public safety to health care. By helping our neighbors overcome alcohol and drug addiction, we help strengthen our entire community.

Mental health support should feel like it was built for you, not in spite of who you are.

For many in the AAPI community, that hasn’t always been the case. Stigma, language barriers, and a lack of culturally responsive providers can make seeking care feel out of reach.

At THS, we’re committed to changing that. Our approach to care means working to match patients with providers who understand their cultural context, alongside an individualized treatment plan built around your goals and your life.

If you or someone you know could use support, we’re here. Fill out our Get Help form and our team will follow up within 24 business hours.

At THS, we believe care should start with the person, not the diagnosis.

That's the foundation of everything we do. Swipe through to learn about our three-part approach to person-centered care: individualized planning built with you, trauma-informed practices that prioritize your safety, and a commitment to cultural humility that means our staff reflects the communities we serve.

We accept Medicaid/Apple Health and offer a sliding fee scale regardless of ability to pay.

Happy Pride Month from everyone at THS. 🏳️‍🌈💜🏳️‍⚧️

We believe compassionate, affordable care should be available to everyone, including LGBTQ+ individuals and families who too often face barriers when seeking help.

This month, we're celebrating the community we serve and recommitting to the judgment-free care we've provided for over 50 years.

If you or someone you love needs support, we're here.

May is coming to a close, but the conversation doesn't stop here. 💜

This month, we shared stories of courage and recovery, talked about opioid use disorder and medication-assisted treatment, spotlighted our Pregnant & Parenting Program and the Layne Staley Memorial Fund, and reminded our community that cost is never a barrier to care at THS.

Here's what we want you to carry into June:

→ Addiction is a medical condition, not a moral failure.
→ Mental illness is treatable.
→ Help is closer than you think.
→ You don't have to do this alone.

If May brought something up for you — please reach out. We're here.

No one chooses addiction. And losing everything — your health, your home, your child — is a pain most people will never understand.

Rachelle was diagnosed with cancer at 25. A single mother working full-time, she turned to substances just to get through the day. It wasn't long before he**in took everything from her — including custody of her son.

When she became pregnant again, Rachelle found her reason to fight. She came to THS's Snohomish/Everett Branch and never looked back.

Today, Rachelle and her fiancé are both 5 years clean. Her baby was born healthy. She sees her eldest son every other weekend. They have a new baby on the way and are working toward buying a home together. 💜

Layne Staley was the voice of Alice in Chains — one of Seattle's greatest bands. He was also deeply honest about his struggle with he**in addiction before his death on April 5th, 2002. 💜

Shortly after his passing, his parents, Nancy and Phil, began receiving donations from fans around the world. They partnered with THS to create the Layne Staley Memorial Fund.

Since 2002, THS has managed the fund, using it to provide treatment, education, and hope for people struggling with opioid addiction in the Greater Seattle Area.

Every August, a tribute concert is held in his memory at The Showbox — and every dollar raised comes to THS. This year's show is on August 22nd. 🎸

Joe's story isn't like most recovery stories. 💜

He didn't just overcome addiction. He also navigated serious run-ins with the law — charges that could have defined the rest of his life.

Instead, Joe completed the King County Drug Court program with flying colors, received complete forgiveness, and was offered a position at THS. He worked alongside us, helping others find the same path he had.

Today, Joe has written a book about his journey — "Causes and Conditions: A Life Experience in Addiction and Recovery" — and every day he pays his recovery forward.
