Chorosynthesis

Chorosynthesis We envision a world where the choral art and its communities are thriving and preeminent. Check out www.chorosynthesis.org. Selvey and Dr. Wendy K. Moy.

Inspired by the 2010 American Orchestra Summit held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Chorosynthesis was founded in Seattle, Washington by conductors Dr. Jeremiah D. CHOROSYNTHESIS SINGERS, a professional, project-based 12-voice choir, exists to involve world-class performers and composers in the creation and performance of music that connects the art with community, specifically through

the lens of social consciousness. The ensemble performs in world-class venues, partners with other organizations as artists-in-residence and concert series guests, and annually provides new music reading sessions. Based on their inaugural performance, they were awarded 2nd place for The American Prize 2016 in the Ensemble (Professional Choruses) Division. The Singers are co-directed by artist-educators Wendy Moy and Jeremiah Selvey, who took 3rd and 1st places respectively for The American Prize 2016 in the Conducting (Professional Choruses) Division. “Empowering Silenced Voices,” an album of new, socially conscious choral music was recently released on the Centaur Records label.

We are thrilled to announce that CHOROSYNTHESIS SINGERS has been selected as the winner of The American Prize: in Choral Performance, 2024, in the professional division!

This prestigious award was based on peer-reviewed live recordings from our Dayton Residency (music by Thomas Schuttenhelm, Michael Robert Smith, C. G. Sonny Walden) and the virtual premiere of Amendment: Righting Our Wrongs by Melissa Dunphy from our residency with Santa Monica College Choirs, under the direction of Jeremiah Selvey of Selvey Studios and Wendy Moy of Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music.

We are beyond grateful for this honor and couldn't have done it without the dedication of our talented singers, composers, collaborators, and supporters. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!
