We are so proud of you, Dr. Yamilée Chérubin!

Returning home not just as a woman, but as a doctor ready to serve the community that shaped her!

Last April 28, 2026, Dr. Yamilée Chérubin, Haiti’s first Pediatric Ophthalmologist, completed her training at the Global Retina Institute/Red Rover Ventures Simulation Center.

We wish her all the best as she returns to Haiti to continue on our goal of zero blind babies in her hometown. We believe that the knowledge and skills she learned will help her become a better, if not the best ophthalmologist in her town.

Watch out for our interview with her in the coming days!

Welcome to Arizona, Dr. Chérubin!

It is with pride that we welcome our new global doctor training at the Sim Center. Dr. Yamilée Chérubin, Haiti’s first Pediatric Ophthalmologist.

Know The Glow describes Dr. Chérubin’s story as "one of resilience, compassion, and unwavering determination. Her journey into the field of ophthalmology began amidst the aftermath of Haiti’s devastating 2010 earthquake, a cataclysmic event that not only shook the nation but also reshaped the trajectory of Dr. Chérubin’s life. In the midst of chaos, she found purpose, initially offering her assistance at local hospitals. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for ophthalmology".

Another huge shoutout to our great partner, Dr. Dan Alter of FOCUS Inc. who made Dr. Chérubin’s travel to Arizona possible!

Welcome to Arizona, Dr. Chérubin! May you learn a lot from the Sim Center!

We wish you all the best, Dr. David Ngabo!

Global Retina Institute, in collaboration with Red Rover Ventures, has been accepting doctors and students at the Ophthalmology Simulation Center to help them hone their skills, thereby reducing the risk of mistakes as they move to work on real people.

One of the young professionals that we encourage to continue pursuing ophthalmology is Dr. Emily Gray Robillard, an Ophthalmology Resident at the University of Arizona.

We are trying to raise $500.00 to purchase a 28 diopter lens for her to continue working with kids. Your every donation matters! Scan the code to get routed to our non-profit donation page, and let's work together to help young professionals in the industry!
