We are excited for Dr Tiris to begin her vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Aravind Eye Hospital in India. She will be the first woman retinal specialist in Haiti. The team at GRi has been blessed to play a role in her launch. We know she will soar!

I love America and have a photograph of the US flag in my office. Our international guests training with us often request a photo op in front of that photograph. It’s important to remember that we are lucky to be born in the USA (only 2.5% are born here). Diplomacy starts with each of us and how we travel and how we host.

Last May 29 2026, Dr. Rebecca Claire Lusobya, a determined pediatric Ophthalmologist from the heart of Kampala, Uganda completed her training at the Global Retina Institute/Red Rover Ventures Simulation Center.

Training complete, mission continues. We know that Dr. Lusobya returned to Uganda with advanced ophthalmology training and a renewed commitment to providing quality eye care to the community she proudly calls home.

We welcome Dr. Nosedalie Tiris to Arizona!

Dr. Tiris is an ophthalmologist known for her work in Haiti, particularly her involvement with the Fondation La Vue pour la Vie (Eyesight4life) clinic. She has been recognized for utilizing medical resources such as OphthoQuestions to advance her training and provide care to underserved populations.

We are happy to have her train at the Global Retina Institute/ Red Rover Ventures Simulation Center! Of course, a huge shoutout to Dr. Dan Alter of FOCUS Inc. for helping make this training possible.

We are so proud of you, Dr. Yamilée Chérubin!

Returning home not just as a woman, but as a doctor ready to serve the community that shaped her!

Last April 28, 2026, Dr. Yamilée Chérubin, Haiti’s first Pediatric Ophthalmologist, completed her training at the Global Retina Institute/Red Rover Ventures Simulation Center.

We wish her all the best as she returns to Haiti to continue on our goal of zero blind babies in her hometown. We believe that the knowledge and skills she learned will help her become a better, if not the best ophthalmologist in her town.
