Today, we celebrate National Latino Physician Day! đŸ©º

Latino physicians play an important role in caring for communities, mentoring future physicians, and shaping the future of healthcare. Yet, Latino physicians represent just 6.7% of active physicians in the United States.

Today is an opportunity to celebrate their contributions and continue creating pathways for the next generation of Latino physicians.

We are thrilled to have welcomed Dr. Abigail Solorio back for our Explosion of a Dream weekend as a powerful example of physician leadership and community impact. Since her time as an ElevateMeD Scholar, she has completed her Family Medicine residency at Georgetown, served as Chief of Education, and returned home to practice in Arizona.

Her inspiring journey highlights the lasting impact of the ElevateMeD network and how empowering future physician leaders directly strengthens the communities they serve.

As a first-generation medical student, Kambrea Soltero knows what it can feel like to navigate the journey without a built-in support system. For Kambrea, provides more than mentorship. It is a community where she can continue to grow, be challenged, and give back to others walking a similar path.

Did you know language barriers can affect both the quality and safety of a patient’s care?

Patients with limited English proficiency may experience challenges communicating symptoms, understanding medical information, and participating in decisions about their care. Access to qualified interpreters and language services can help support clearer communication between patients and healthcare teams.
