Last month, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy played four straight nights at the Jazz Alley. Tomorrow, Oct. 7, they are right here in Scottsdale, swinging into our intimate Virginia G. Piper Theater for an unforgettable night of music. This isn't a tired nostalgia act. If you've seen them in our house before, you know the energy is palpable. As Creative Loafing wrote, “Their shows are as vibrant and frisky as ever." Select tickets are still available: https://scottsdalearts.org/whats-on/events/big-bad-voodoo-daddy/

No two schools are exactly the same. That’s why Scottsdale Arts and Scottsdale Unified School District don’t approach arts learning with a one-size-fits-all model. For more than 40 years, educators, teaching artists, district leaders, and Scottsdale Arts staff have worked together to understand what students and teachers need, then build from there.

Sometimes that starts with a workshop. Sometimes it grows into residencies, coaching, or deeper school-wide support. The classroom experience may last an hour. The partnership behind it has been growing for decades. That’s the work we’re inviting you to see.

Imagine that it’s 1981 and you’re cruising the Atlantic shores of the Hamptons with your friends. Bikinis are fluorescent, polo collars are popped, and boat shoes are rocked sockless. In the background, your booming sound system is playing the soft-rock sounds of Michael McDonald, Olivia Newton-John, Hall & Oates, Christopher Cross, and Air Supply. It’s like that, only New Year’s Eve in Old Town Scottsdale when America’s Favorite Yacht Rock Band comes to town.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with the inaugural NYE Party on the Park—a high-energy evening featuring The Docksiders yacht rock experience, presented in partnership with Pinyon and AZ88. Straight out of Vegas, The Docksiders deliver hit song after hit song with numerous costume changes and the type of visual production that is only topped by their world-class performance!

Follow a trail of vintage advertising that tells you to do one thing: go west. At the end of the trail, there's a hand-built steamer trunk that unfolds into a table, where you barter stories and small treasures in a live-broadcast card game. This is "How the West Was Sold," and Jolly Productions is bringing this interactive installation to Canal Convergence.
