Caring for Canines

Caring for Canines A caring place for canines in Arizona. Saving the lives of homeless, unwanted, abused and helpless an We help dogs of all breeds, nationalities, color and age.

We not only take dogs from across the street but also from streets across the border. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless dogs and ensuring that they are placed in loving, caring homes. Dogs are rescued both from the euthanasia list at animal shelters and from people who are no longer able to care for their animals. We rescue the dogs that no one else wants. W

hether left to die in the local shelter or starving and homeless on the streets, we take them in, provide them with medical care, spay and neuter services, micro-chips, vaccinations and behavioral training. After careful screening of the potential new family, we attempt to adopt the dogs to the best home possible. We Care for Canines.....One Dog and One Life at a Time! Caring for Canines was born from one girl’s love and compassion for animals and her desire to help change the plight of homeless dogs. At fourteen years of age, Sarah Duncan started rescuing dogs and in 1992, Caring for Canines was established. Later, in 2003, Caring for Canines became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since then, the organization has continued to grow as family, friends, and other members of the community have joined the cause and because of this support, more dogs are saved each week and placed in loving homes. In the past 20 years, Caring for Canines has rescued over 10,000 homeless dogs and given them a second chance at life. We hope to save even more in the next 20 years and with your help, we can make that happen.

🐾 Proud to be a PACC911 Rescue Partner! 🐾
Being part of the Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911) is about more than just a partnership—it’s about being part of a powerful, compassionate community dedicated to saving lives. 🧡

Here is why we love working with them:
✨ Strength in Numbers: PACC911 brings together over 100 rescue groups across Arizona, proving that we can achieve so much more for homeless animals when we work together.
✨ The Critical Care Program: This incredible fund is a lifesaver—literally. It provides the financial support needed for animals with extensive medical needs, allowing us to say "yes" to pets who might otherwise be left behind.
✨ Community & Connection: From massive adoption events to educational resources, PACC911 gives our rescues the platform they need to find forever homes and raise awareness for animal welfare.

We are so grateful for their support and the "spirit of cooperation" they’ve built in our community. Together, we’re making Arizona a better place for every four-legged friend! 🐶🐱

"It's been a few years since we adopted Rohan from Caring for Canines! (He was Spencer, the shy rescue from Mexico) Rohan is such a sweet and loyal dog! He absolutely loves chest rubs, watching shows with us and going camping. He also likes to steal dryer sheets and collect little rocks, he's such a funny guy! His nick name is Bubby and we love him so much

Thank you for saving him and being a part of his story, we are so grateful!"
