Ari, a 3.5yo barrel racing gelding, started hemorrhaging this morning at breakfast and got so weak he went down and would not stand up. After hours in pouring rain trying to get him help, a vet referred him to AERO to transport him from Congress to Chaparral for urgent medical care. Ari arrived in shock and barely responsive and the Chaparral Vet Med Center got to work and quickly diagnosed a gutteral pouch fungal infection that is life threatening. Ari made it to the hospital alive and will receive a blood transfusion then go to surgery. Everyone please send prayers and positive thoughts for Ari and his family. Looking forward to the day he is back on his feet and back to normal.

Phoenix PD seized 3 stallions and a mare who had several years of hoof growth, were underweight and had malnourishment. The stallions are in medical care where they will be gelded, get rentals, and have had their feet done. Sophia the mare was euthanized after careful consultation with vets and farriers on her best option. Special thanks to Chaparral Vet Med Center Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center for housing our stallions who are giving the hardworking interns exposure to rehabbing rescues. Special thanks to Mark Russell and Ron Meyers for their help getting these hooves back on track. If you are interested in adopting these cuties they are all gaited and experience with stallions will be important.

AERO received a call from Maricopa County Parks and Recreation team who were trying to help a cow stuck in mud. With Lake Pleasant's water levels low, it is making mud bogs where the water normally is, and this cow got stuck trying to go get a drink. The Parks team dug all around and tried to pull her out with four people and she almost made it out the first day. The hole they dug out filled with water making it too hard.

The next day they called us to help and we thought it would be a simple pull ..what could go wrong. Our girl was very remote in the north end so we went over hills and down in the lake bottom carefully avoiding soft areas. One of the county park trucks already sank in the mud so we tried hugging higher ground.

We set up 150 feet of rope, hooked to her horns (she was not a fan of people) and pulled her out! But before we could get her out of the bog, the weight of the cow brought the front of the AERO truck down in the mud and now two trucks were stuck!

She was out but still not in great ground. She was resting when her rancher came to evaluate her. We rolled her up but when she tried to stand her legs sank again. He felt her prognosis was poor and decided to euthanize.

We still had a rescue going for the vehicles that wanted to help her! Enter Western Towing like the cavalry! They positioned to pull the park truck out about 300 feet away. However when they pulled the park truck out successfully they badly sunk the tow truck!

They had to go back to get their six wheel osh kosh military tow vehicle and by 130am they had the AERO truck out on a 450 ft pull. It took two tries. They did all of this for free to AERO and we will forever be grateful to them! We stayed as long as we could to help with their tow truck that was buried to the top of their tire. The ground was incredibly deceptive because you could barely make a track but sink easy when pulling.

It was a long night all because a bunch of people had compassion for a cow in a tough situation. Special special thanks to the parks employees, Derrel Selleys and Western Towing for saving our truck!

Angel is a 23yo Arabian mare that was removed from a children's riding program by police because she was so underweight and had sores from poorly fitting equipment. She still has scars from her past but she is sweet as can be and has excellent manners if she trusts you. She is a smart girl who is good for arena riding or as a companion. She is 14.2h and healthy.

We recently had a larger police case come in and need help giving some of our adaptable animals forever homes so we can rehabilitate our newcomers.

Azteca is a 20yo pinto that was seized by the Arizona department of agriculture from a property dealing in drugs. He was badly neglected and abused. The other horse removed did not survive. He was living in trash and human f***s. Since being rescued Azteca has learned how to trust people again and really really loves playing his wind chime for food and eating peppermint candies. He is a gentlemen that ties, handles well for farrier, loads, loves grooming. He has not been trained for riding so he would make a beautiful pasture pet that just needs attention. He cannot be turned out with other horses and should not be stalled next to mares.

Neville and Luna are two beautiful 2yo miniature nubian goats that are brother and sister. They are looking for a wonderful family who will give them a pet home. They are friendly and playful and easy to care for....contact the rescue at [email protected] for more info.

So proud of Princess Penelope and her progress in her saddle training. She is so intelligent and will be talented at whatever discipline she does. She will need an excellent horse person who understands horse behavior to adopt her.
