Black Mountain Foothills Chapter, NSDAR

Black Mountain Foothills Chapter, NSDAR The Black Mountain Foothills Chapter, NSDAR, is located in Cave Creek & Carefree, Arizona.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded on October 11, 1890, during a time that was marked by a revival in patriotism and intense interest in the beginnings of the United States of America. Women felt the desire to express their patriotic feelings and were frustrated by their exclusion from men's organizations formed to perpetuate the memory of ancestors who fought to

make this country free and independent. As a result, a group of pioneering women in the nation's capital formed their own organization and the Daughters of the American Revolution has carried the torch of patriotism ever since. Constitution Week September 17 -23.
DAR Black Mountain Foothills Chapter snd libray staff joined Bells Across America today at Desert Foothills Library to kick off Constitution Week! Daughters across the nation rang bells at 1 pm local time. Bell ringing was often used in the 18th century to announce presentation of important information in towns. Imagine the excitement when it was announced that an agreement had been reached on our Constitution!
Informative displays are set in the library for the duration of Constitution Week. Please stop by to browse them and pick up a bookmark or sticker!

"This We'll Defend." On June 14, 1775, the Second Continental Congress formally established the American Continental Army. The resolution read: “Resolved, that six companies of expert riflemen, be immediately raised in Pennsylvania, two in Maryland, and two in Virginia; that each company consist of a captain, three lieutenants, four serjeants, four corporals, a drummer or trumpeter, and sixty-eight privates. That each company, as soon as completed, shall march and join the army near Boston, to be there employed as light infantry, under the command of the chief Officer in that army.” Please join the National Board of Management in congratulating the U.S. Army on a quarter-millennium of service! We give thanks to the men and women, including many Daughters, who have served our nation with bravery and dedication in the Army since more than a year before the Declaration of Independence was even signed.
